It's a bit like a white sauce but using breadcrumbs instead of flour. It usually has an onion, peppercorns, bay leaf, and maybe a bit of nutmeg in it too, but these are removed before serving.I'm intrigued about bread sauce...What is it?

As requested, here's my Cheddar Cheese Tater Tot Recipe. The above look is what happens when you don't press the frayed bit of shredded potato together: some of the ends burn a bit, but they're still crispy and delicious!
I think one of the Two Fat Ladies said that bread sauce goes with everything! I totally agree.
