The plan is roast pork. There will be gravy. I have a lot of broccoli taking up fridge space so I'm thinking cheese sauce & gratin.

There's a brown rice & green lentil roast veg warm salad bouncing around in my head.... we will see.

Frizz, when you say pancakes, do you mean served like a Moo Shu Duck?

It was my first attempt at these and the recipe was for a very runny batter which I cooked in my crepe pans. From memory I used all purpose flour, some corn flour, an egg and soda water.

I had to google mu shu duck... I'm not sure I've seen that on a menu here. Usually the only pancakes we see at Chinese restaurants are served with Peking duck & some cucumber, scallions & maybe some herbs. You make little wraps with the pancakes.

I've spent the morning making various things...

cheese for the chooks (again)...

Sweet, hot & sour mustard sauce

And finally our evening meal - mushroom bisque which having cayenne pepper in it, is best made up in the morning and allowed to cool and stand until being liquidized later in the day and creamed cashew nuts added along with a touch of lemon juice (to replicate sour cream). It will be served with eggs cooked in the soup itself, and a dark rye sourdough from the freezer.

We started dinner with garden salads. Next came baby Brussels sprouts, fresh corn off the cob with Tajin (a lime and chili seasoning), long grain and wild rice mix, and cod baked with a butter-lemon-capers sauce. High praise from my Dinner Critic. That was before he found out I hadn't made dessert.

A lovely plate of food - so fresh and healthy :hungry:

Slow cooked shoulder of pork, cider gravy, sprout flowers, sweetcorn with lemon and sage, baby new potatoes roasted in duck fat. Washed down with a few glasses of claret. Job done.

Thank you, epicuric. I hope I don't ruin it for you if I tell you we're currently enjoying scoops of coffee ice cream with generous spoonfuls of hot fudge. :whistling:

I can forgive that! Recently whilst on holiday I developed a taste for frappe's - there is something about coffee and ice cream, yet I don't have a sweet tooth!

Your babies look fabulous. Fresh or frozen?

Fresh, from Aldi. They took about 8 minutes to cook and were so tender and flavorful. And that from someone who definitely prefers her Brussels sprouts with bacon and mushrooms.
