@winterybella Do you mean salted cod, aka bacalau? You have to rehydrate it before cooking?
I am not familiar with the bacalau (Googled it) word but it is the salted cod. We simply call it salt fish here. I'd usually boil it to get the salt out or soak it for a very long time. Once or twice I have taken too much salt out of the fish and found myself adding condiments to bring back the flavour. That's not ideal. The ideal thing is to get rid of just the right about of salt from the fish.

Today, Wednesday the 21st, I did a colleague a favor, who could not leave Barcelona, to do a Lisbon, Portugal Tour ( Casçais, Sintra, Estoil ) .. So here I am in Portugal ..

Lunch was en - route ..

Some freshly grilled Hake ( merluza ) .. Nothing more .. I cannot eat much when travelling across country or long distances ..

I've cooked with salt cod a few times but it isn't easily available here. I wish it was! Its popular on Portugal which is where the Bacalou word comes from I think.

Oooh I'm jealous you're in Portugal !! And then you also write Cascais and I have my heart's eyes ... what a nice tour! I would like to be there too !! And Portuguese bacalhau is magnificent!

@morning glory

Cod Fish .. It is equally a Lent fish, since the ancient times of the Vikings ( The Basques, and the Italians later 1432 ) and it is Cod Fish when fresh and Salted Cod only when dried ..

It is also smoked, same way smoked salmon is and paradise ..

The Vikings taught the Basques how to salt in Newfoundland for their long journies back to The Basque Country ..

The Portuguese are more famous for fresh Cod and the government & tourism agencies promote 365 cod récipes for the 365 days a year.

Have a nice day ..

Thank you for your link...I think we have both type. I've also seen on internet that Masa Harina is a particular white flour specific for mexican tortillas but here is very difficult to find it except if you go to an international food store..here in Saronno there aren't, I'll go to Milano to check. Or at least I could buy ready tortillas..:)
Harina is flour, Masa is dough.
Masa Harina is for flour tortillas. Masa de maiz Harina is for corn tortillas. Maiz is corn.
For flour tortillas, I just use all purpose flour.

Today will be jambalaya. It is a previous batch that I had frozen. It will just be reheated in my west bend slow cooker with some leftover smoked sausage added.
