Thank you. They are an entry for the Recipe Challenge so I'll be writing it up soon.

@morning glory

Wow. Fantastic ! Good luck .. I shall obtain the récipe !

They are café Espresso perfect !! I have a limited "sweet tooth " or I do not have an enormous penchant for sweets .. However, I adore cinnamon baked goods from scratch and the aromas from the oven when cinammon fills the apartment ..

I wanted to 'like' this because I love the sound of this tapas. But strangely the photo looks nothing like it sounds.... sorry I am not criticising your photo. Its just that I can't see any prawns and the sauce doesn't look like a drizzle. :scratchhead:

@morning glory

Chef Felipe had told me what is was and it takes exactly of what he stated which he said, this is prawn ceviche with a ruby red grapefruit drizzle ..

It was a very very light grapefruit sauce .. I had obtained the récipe so when I get home Sunday night, I shall post it .. Very easy to make ..

Prawn Ceviche ( they use a very tiny prawn called "camarones" ). They are very tiny ..

Very lovely !

Have a wonderful weekend & Thanks.

English cukes are aka burpless cucumbers because of their thinner skin and fewer/softer seeds. We can buy 3 or 4 kinds of cukes: burpless, Asian, pickling, and slicing.
How do Asian cucumbers and slicing cucumbers differ apart from seeds. Here we just have one type of cucumber (as far as I'm aware) which looks like the one in the photo.

This caught my eye. I've never seen it called that - I assume you mean the cucumber like this:

Are there other sorts of cucumber on sale where you are?
Yes, there are - I just like these the best. They are milder and the seeds are smaller than the others. Some people call them "seedless cucumbers" or "burpless cucumbers".

We went to Furrs in the mall. It is an all you can eat cafeteria style restaurant. We hadn't been to one in our town in several years. The manager recognized us from the other Furrs. We hadn't seen him in at least 4 or 5 years. He got promoted and moved when the other one closed.

Depending on time of year, I can usually find English, gherkin, kirby (almost dill pickling time!), garden, and Persian cucumber. I know that the Armenian variety are available in some parts of Massachusetts because of the large pockets of Armenian decendants. They may sell Japanese cukes at the Asian marketplace we've been to, but it's about 50 miles away and definitely a day trip for us! Now you have me wondering if the Mediterranean one is offered at the Greek and Mediterranean store we've gone to...

Here is a list and photos of those, plus a bonus pic of a Lemon Cucumber: Cook's Thesaurus: Cucumbers

Geez, Francesca, have you ever had a hot dog from a questionable street cart at 4 AM?

Stop.

I didn't ask that.

I apologize.

@ Bucky Tom,

I prefer a Ruben !! That was memorable ..

Yes, but not at 4am !!! I am not a night owl ..
When I was in Manhattan a few years ago for a Travel Convention, my colleague and I had a Street vendor hot dog way downtown near The Ferry on lower west side ..

Goodnight .. I am working Saturday ..

We went to one Indian restaurant before we left the UK that is meant to be excellent and basically ordered their hottest spiciest dishes (everything was vegetarian, so getting vegan wasn't an issue). The waiter warned us that it was really hot and spicy and too much... only a dish for Indians etc.... Well we were rather disappointed and I know we were watched in awe as we ate our way through it without it bothering us at all. It wasn't spicy or hot compared to what we were used to. The Indian mother who cooked our meal did have a big smile on her face when she came out to meet us though. I gathered most people don't finish the dish and it upset her however she was very happy that we ate everything and enjoyed it.
That so reminds me of a meal I had in a local restaurant several years ago. My Scottish-Indian escort for the evening ordered something off the menu. They said, if I managed to eat it, they would not charge for the meal. I had seconds :D

Thank you. Very interesting. I am obviously a cucumber virgin. Read into that what you will. :whistling:

Thank you so much for the link. I've never been able to find a Lemon cucumber. I think I may look for some seeds next year before the planting time comes.

Ditto. I can eat anyone under the table where chillies are concerned! Also (perhaps wrongly) where drinking is concerned. Another story...

It's the same here MG, there are no big long cucumbers on sale like the UK. They are all short (15-20cm max), often curled as well which is great to see. Some are almost spiky to touch (and look at), others are not much bigger than gerkins, they are the 'normal' cucumber here sold by weight rather than quantity.

I'm out of practice as far as drinking is concerned. In my younger days I could drink a pint of Guinness quicker than most people could down a Scotch, and the vodka bottle used to get hidden when I was around. Gin and Pernod used to be my favourite tipple though.
