What did you cook/eat today (October 2017)?

When George is away this cat eats carbs and rich sauces.

He was in Houston last week so one day I cooked a beautiful Rib Eye with garlic smashed potatoes and pan grilled asparagus with a Beurre Blanc Sauce.

For lunch the next day I made cakes with the left over potatoes. Coated them with seasoned bread crumbs and crisped them up in a skillet with butter. I sliced the left over steak and tossed it the skillet just long enough to heat it then added 2 poached eggs on top of it all.

My Love will be out of town for a couple of days this coming week. I haven't decided what to cook with it but wild mushroom Risotto is on the menu.

When George is home I get on the stationary bike 3 times a week - more to encourage him than anything else. When he is away I have to get on it everyday to avoid gaining any weight.

Wild mushroom Risotto....mm mm...

I made bread pudding today to use up the baguette's lying around after the weekend.

Now, bread pudding is something I have never made. Its very much a childhood memory for me and not something you see very much these days. Your photo looks as I remember it. It is not to be confused with bread and butter pudding. So... can you post the recipe? :)

My husband cooked over the weekend. I'm not sure if he's on a campaign to get me to try cooking again (is still too much for me) but it could be working because the meals were awful.

Saturday night he cooked if that is the right word, chips eggs and sausage with peas. Not much could go wrong surely... Er well most of it actually. He baked the sausages then fried then to reheat... They were like leather. The fried eggs are burnt in the underneath and still raw on top (clear eggs white literally). He also insists on using olive oil to fry in. The chips are reheated in the oven (he left everything in the oven except the eggs, to drive 24km along dirt roads to buy them from the chippy. Hopefully he won't repeat the meal.

Sunday was a tart. Mixed veg and apparently braised tofu in a pastry crust. The pastry was shop bought. It was burnt on the underside and raw in the middle where it meet the tart. It was more like a Spanish omelette in pastry tbh! It was served with a jacket potato which was overdone imo and some of last year's runner beans from the freezer. Yeh....

I need to get strong enough to be able to do something other than boil eggs to pickle them.

He's trying hard I know but...

Another night, another meal. I'm getting tired of cooking at the moment. Tonight I made "ooo, fancy salads", per hubby. They had bacon in them, so that makes them "fancy".

We also had chicken piccata over whole wheat pasta, with a side of sauteed red grapes and almond slivers.

Forgot to get the parsley in on the photo shoot, but it was there when I ate it!

Good thing I still cook like there are four of us. Leftovers for the next few days!
