It is kind of cold and rainy this weekend, so I made more congee with shrimp and ground pork. Sort of chicken noodle soup type of feeling. I topped it was sambal oelek, which I never liked before but goes really well with the porridge.

I find sambal to have a lot of flavor in general as opposed to just using a chili for some heat.

Prepped 800 cheese tasting plates for an event today.

Today we visited a new farm shop/deli that has opened near Great Glen, so local Sparkenhoe Blue and Brie cheeses, a pork pie made by a butcher in Kibworth Beauchamp*, an onion and beetroot marmalade, and even the crisps come from 5 miles down the road.

* bonus point for anyone who knows how to pronounce Kibworth Beauchamp without asking Alexa.

It snowed here this morning! It didn't stick because the ground was too warm (38F/4C) but it's always interesting to see how the weather evolves in Ohio, isn't it? It's going to be 55F/ 13C here tomorrow. I have often heard that if you don't like the weather in Ohio, wait 10 minutes because it's likely to change!

Making Great Northern bean soup in the crockpot with ham, red-skin potatoes, onion, carrots, and lots of black pepper. I will also be baking some bread this afternoon. Yes, it is great soup weather for sure. We finished off a pot of homemade chicken soup earlier in the week.

I made an omelet for breakfast with ham, sauteed mushrooms, onion, orange bell pepper, and slivered raw asparagus, using Gouda, white cheddar, and American cheese. Really, really good!

Last night we had seared scallops and Chilean seabass filet seasoned with lemon pepper and broiled just until the sections slid apart. I served it over a fettucine in a white wine and lemon cream sauce, sauteed mushrooms, bell pepper, red onion, diced tomato, and asparagus seasoned with Cajun seasoning. Really, really delicious.

Lately I haven't been feeling like taking pictures, I don't know why. Too hungry to bother maybe?

That's a shame 'cos everything you listed sounds lovely!
Well, it's not too late for the soup, but...it's just soup. And the bread, which now I am not sure if I will make because I have to go out and run some errands, one of which is taking my in-laws some of the soup because MIL lost a filling this morning and her tooth is a bit sensitive, plus she can't chew what they were originally having for dinner so I offered to take her some! It's on my way to the pharmacy where I am going to pick up my prescription so no hardship. Plus I like doing nice things for them.

But we generally don't eat until after 9 so I might still have time for the bread. Especially if I make naan bread instead of making a loaf-style bread.
