What did you cook or eat today (April 2025)?

The tart recipes I saw mostly used 72% cocoa dark chocolate (which was higher in sat fat), so I did a mix of chocolate and cocoa powder to make it lower. To be fair my tart was VERY chocolaty, so I could dial that back slightly.

Hmm, cocoa powder seems to be a pretty standard 12-13g sat fat per 100g. Even this one Fat Reduced Cocoa Powder 1kg - Dr Oetker UK still has 6.4g per 100g.
Ah well, I can tweak my recipe for slightly less chocolate, use a bit more cocoa powder, and a bit less chocolate. This was an adaptation of my adapted lemon tart recipe, never tried a chocolate version before, and only looked at other recipes to try work out how much chocolate to use :giggle:

Off topic mods are going to want to move this... Reduced fat is like half and the no fat ones are expensive.

Chicken salad sandwiches with baby dill pickles and olives.

Sunday lunch. The windows are being replaced yesterday today and tomorrow so given they're dismantling the dining room now, lunch was picnic on the garden.

It was -1.7°C overnight, so whilst it is sunny, out, it's not too warm.

PS. The dog, Otto is a border collie poodle cross.

Out for a curry with some mates last night, but mine was a bit disappointing.

First up I had a king prawn puri which was the best of my dishes. That was actually really good.

But my main was a chicken biryani and when it arrived I was poking around under this mass of vegetables on top looking for some chicken but couldn't find any, so called the waiter and said I thought I had been mistakenly served a vegetable biriyani. It had plenty of chunks of tomato, potato, broccoli... not things I'd normally associate with a chicken briyani.

Anyway he took it off me then used my spoon to dig in the rice and said it was indeed a chicken biryani and gave it back. So I had a look and under the pile of rice were some tiny cubes of chicken about 1cm on a side nestling amongst the grains. My mate and I counted 5 such pieces.

Anyway, the manager came over to try and make good and asked me if I would like some extra chicken and he would throw in some free chicken tikka. How could I say no? So they brought out these rather dry, overcooked and tasteless white strips (this is about a third of it after I'd passed it round as there was quite a bit):

So full marks for effort to try and rectify a slightly disappointing situation, but if I went there again I don't think I'd be ordering the biriyani or tikka. My mates' dishes all seemed to hit the spot with them.

I had a bottle of Cobra too, It was flat lol:

Thats disappointing and a bit crazy to skimp so much on the chicken that they then give you a pile of chicken separately 🤪
Must have been nice to go for a curry with your mates though.

I know right.

Mates from school days. We'd been on a bit of an all-dayer and it was great fun with some nice beer-garden weather.
