What did you cook or eat today (December 2021)?

Well now hang on, in Korea metal is the preferred material for their chopsticks.
Me, I eat with bamboo disposable ones in the paper wrapper and cook with the long wooden chopsticks.
My Father brought back this expensive set of lacquered chopsticks, but none of us could eat with them very well. I think they went into the donation box for charity shop.

No sympathy wanted. I just took exception to FL's commentary.

Now, pardon me, I have to see if my chopsticks are wood. They are preferred, ya' know. Hey Yorky, make sure to tell everyone in Thailand.

You did see the part where I wrote: " I know you aren't seeking sympathy"...and I actually was offended as well even though it doesn't pertain to my current circumstances. I felt it wasn't a sensitive or thoughtful statement, though it may have been well-intended. It's not hard to edit or retract insensitivity with written words. It's nearly impossible after they come out of one's mouth.

And I don't care what kind of chopsticks I am using as long as they work. If I am using wooden chopsticks they are often the free ones from the takeout place, which means one less thing for me to wash after I am done eating (yes, I own nice chopsticks that I rarely use). I tend to drink certain soups directly from my bowl without using a spoon, too, as long as they are mainly broth soups. Maybe I am uncouth, I dunno.

Yeah, but to be completely stereotypical and sexist, that's a man's way of thinking.
I am glad you are in touch with your feminine side
Champagne: 3-4 years if non-vintage; 8-10 years if vintage.
I´d just leave it there - such a pretty bottle!
yep, that's why we have kept all the bottles.

It's actually quite frightening how much that (unopened) magnam is actually worth now. We've seen prices almost x10 what we paid for it ! (1996 was are of their best vintages apparently)

So SNSSO, you mean to say that you could sell that bottle of wine and make a bundle of money?

I use the bamboo disposable sticks in the paper wraps to eat with and the slick pretty ones for photographic props.

let's put It this way four figures and Sterling, not Aussie dollars

Belle Epoque is one of the commonly used champagnes in films because of the bottle. It is actually (or was 25 years ago) a very expensive bottle of a very excellent Champagne. Bottles are hand painted. Apparently less than 30 vintages have been made to date.

I have found a 2007 Magnum selling at AUD$ 899.99 before delivery!
Current vintages (2012 or 2013) in bottle size are retailing around AUD $ 269.99-289.99
Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque Champagne 2012 + 2 Glasses Set

Now that would be risky. If the buyer opens it, and the contents have gone bad, you would have one pissed off buyer. Bear in mind, long term storage of wine/champagne requires very controlled climate.

Try Salon Cuvee 'S' Le Mesnil at approximately $10,000 per bottle, USD. Cheap by ritzy standards.

But, Blue Diamond Champagne goes for $2.07 million USD. It's something to show off with.

Armand de Brignac champagnes go for between $90,000 and $300,000 USD.

Dom Perignon? It's a cheap champagne going for about $50,000 USD. It's the one you always hear about.

We've just treated ourselves to a 2013 vintage bottle (not magnum) with glasses for a combined 25th WA & Australian Citizenship ceremony (less than 1 month away) celebration. But I'm not sure if we'll celebrate on the day or the saturday afterwards. The citizenship ceremony is on a Wednesday and hubby is working the next day!

I would call you refined.

Just threw together a quick salad from the leftovers of the picnic and contents of the fridge, minus any leaves of any type because we had none (most things in garden have been destroyed following the Boxing day hailstorm... :( )
