What did you cook or eat today (January 2024)?

Roasted beet pasta with beet greens, pine nuts, caramelized onions, garlic, and Parm R. I normally use all golden beets, but only 1 bunch had decent greens attached, so had to use a batch of red beets as well, thus, the pink color.

Today has been a mixed bag of food.. we ended up eating out, but not at any of the usual haunts.

So sushi & nori for lunch. 4 different version of rice rolls including vegetable, carrot & seaweed, inari & avocado. 2 pieces each.

There was icecream when we got home because it was so darn hot at 2pm (we maxed out at 34°C (85F) today).

But by 6pm a storm front had moved through and it was cold enough to eat a hot meal! Down at 18°C which is about 64F. It colder now and due to be quite cold overnight for something that's been our hottest day of the New Year so far.

So I made pizza toasts. Turkish bread, tinned tomatoes & garlic, red onion and dairy free mozzarella (won't try that brand again), and mushrooms with homemade feta and shop bought dairy free cheddar...

It hit the spot, so to speak but could do better. I'll try again tomorrow.

caseydog what are you doing up? According to your time it's 5am!

I woke up at about 3AM with a toothache. It was (as usual) something wedged between the last two teeth in the upper right side of my mouth. I cleared it out, and took some Tylenol, but it takes a few hours for the teeth to stop hurting. Those two teeth are really tight together, and very hard to floss. This happens more often than I'd like.

The pain is almost gone. Hopefully back to beed soon.

Oof toothache. I remember reading a quote when I was a child something about the limitless capacity for mans thought can be reduced to the size of a toothache.
I'd never had toothache at that point in time, I soon understood! 😆
