What did you cook or eat today (January 2025)

Like a Dutch baby? (not an infant)
They explained in a different thread that Dutch babies (the food) are not Dutch. Who knew!

Last night In the early hours of this morning, we had Prosciutto wrapped asparagus that were baked with diced shallot and peppers, then topped with shredded parmesan, mozzarella, fresh ripe roma tomatoes and goat cheese for the last 10 minutes. Really good.

I never understood why blue is supposed to be raspberry flavour...
The short answer is…there were already too many red flavors (raspberry, cherry, strawberry), so when that was created, they colored it blue to differentiate it, and dubbed it “blue raspberry,” and lo and behold, a new artificial flavor was born!

I dunno.
According to one of the main slushie syrup manufacturers -

“With so many bemused as to why raspberry flavoured slush is blue at all, we decided to look into it.

Blue slush dates all the way back to 1974, and there’s a very simple reason behind it. Raspberry flavoured slush is blue to distinguish it from the strawberry/cherry flavour!

And it wasn’t an easy colour to come by. With some obvious exceptions like blueberries, blue is rare shade in nature. However, the dye was eventually developed in the mid-20th century, and was given the name Brilliant Blue – a colour that is still used today to give slush lovers the signature blue tongue!

What about the flavour? Well that usually comes from the Whitebark Raspberry, a native to western North America states such as California and Arizona, and was discovered as a great flavour for sweets at around the same time as Brilliant Blue was created. It was as if they were meant to be!

So now you know. There is no such thing as a blue raspberry – even though many sweet manufacturers have also adopted blue for their own raspberry flavoured products.”

My Mother placed her grocery order with me to shop for her (I go online, place the order and do a curb-side pick up really, much easier) and she requested those Taylor Farms mini salads... I can make those better AND cheaper!!!

I love doing these Mason Jar Salads, wet stuff on the bottom & dry at the top.
Black Olives, Cuc, sliced Deli Ham, Bacon Crumbles, diced Tomatoes, sliced Green Onion, a mix of Romaine, Iceberg and Green Cabbage.
Croutons and Ranch dressing on the side.

Didn't photograph well, but on the bottom is my version of a Loaded Pasta Salad (Mini Bow Tie Pasta, Carrots, Celery, Red Bell Pepper, Sweet White Onion, thinly sliced Hard Salami, halved Black & Green Sicilian Olives, grated Parm and Olive Garden brand bottled Salad Dressing with freshly ground Black Pepper, dried Oregano, Parsley) with chopped Iceberg Lettuce on top.

Mom will love these. She loves loads of "goodies" in her salads...
