What did you cook or eat today (January 2025)

Went to the Oriental Supermarket and above they have a large Chinese restaurant that serves a very large menu and caters for gluten free in a way that lets you know they understand what that means. I was like a pig in the proverbial!
First time Iā€™ve been able to eat dim sum in a restaurant. What a treat!
I had three appetisers and was excited so ate a fair amount before taking pics!

Steamed prawn dim sum.

It was all excellent, I was absolutely stuffed, considering the portions were ā€˜appetisersā€™ they were large.
I will be back soon, maybe tomorrow šŸ˜‚

It was busy, there was about 80 people in there and that was a Wednesday at 12.30pm which is early for lunch.
Mr SSOAP and I were one of only two lilly white couples in there, everyone else was Asian which I took as a very good sign.

I expected service to be slow as there didnā€™t seem to be many staff but it was fast and the food was piping hot, burn your mouth hot, so even though they were busy none of the food was sitting around on the pass šŸ‘

The manager came to ask if everything was ok and I was so happy I blurted out ā€œI feel like itā€™s my birthdayā€ šŸ˜‚
You should have cake now! šŸŽ‚

Shoyu Chicken Dinner.JPG

On the stove as we "speak" - Shoyu Chicken aka Soy Sauce Braised Chicken Thighs served with my Quick Cucumber Kim Chee and that ever present steamed White Rice - OISHII!!!!!

Today I grabbed a slightly tired-looking chunk of cabbage from the fridge and made a bucketful of coleslaw - with celery leaves in it!
Then I decided I wanted hummus, so into the processor went a can of chickpeas, lime juice, garlic, tahini, olive oil and lots of love
( only to discover that the "pita bread" I thought I had in the fridge was actually a packet of grotty flour tortillas:hyper:). Never mind; they worked.
