What did you cook or eat today (March 2023)?

Laarb moo (spicy pork salad).

Vegetables.

Onions, garlic and chillies.

Served.
You’re an inspiration but it must wait until next week.

In progress. Pics to come.

A roast chook but served warm not hot.

Had the feels for the saffron rice that was served up to us when on holiday down the coast. It’s sort of like a biryani with no veg except onions & plenty of butter & warm spices.

So I’ve gone sort of middle eastern in vibe.

The chicken is inspired by this:

And I’ve also used the chicken rub on some pumpkin & eggplant. I threw potatoes in and will make a minted yogurt to go with and maybe some Lebanese bread. I’m tempted to make salad too.

It could have been worse, could have been Scottish lol.

When my husband and I first met, he was living here in Ohio and I was in Florida. He flew down to see me every few weeks for several months, since we were a 15 hour drive apart.

At one point, we arranged to meet halfway at a mountain resort in North Carolina. He was having a bit of difficulty finding the resort and stopped at a fueling station within a few miles from the location to get directions. The attendant said something that sounded like, "Yesh, go yonder down bout crashmile n turn left tween chachewturkeys."

What that translated to was actually: "Yes, go down the road about half a mile and turn left between the two churches."

He thankfully had the phone number to the resort (no cell phones back then) and called me, since he absolutely had no idea what the man had said!

That's easy to understand but I did spend my life "translating" for my husband! He just claimed I had the advantage over him being born in Scotland! Lol, lost excuse if ever I heard one.

I was driving down the West coast of England once, and got lost somewhere near the industrial cities there. I stoped at a petrol station for directions. The cashier was very friendly, and gave me directions. I didn't understand anything she said. I said "Thank you" and left just as lost as before.

You're from Texas, she probably didn't understand you either :giggle:.

Fortunately I speak fluent Texan, having watched a documentary series about the place in the 1980s, I think it was called "Dallas".

That sounds kind of weird, but damn does that look good.
Does it? It's a common combo here, you can buy it in stores just like this. Only unusual thing for here is that I added peppers.
This is how my mom used to make it and I can't think of a better Tuna pizza 😄 I recommend you to give it a try!
The cheeses used are mozzarella and Parmesan.

Hey, IKEA Swedish meatballs taste pretty good, to me. Of course, I'm not Swedish, so I don't know if they are authentic, or not. I do know it is one thing from IKEA that doesn't come in a flat-pack box and require assembly.

I expect you’ve seen this though ( I made them and they taste just like the store ones):

For lunch today we went to The Kings Arms in Wing, Rutland with a couple of friends.

The Kings Arms in Wing - Restaurant, Pubs & Rooms in Rutland

They specialise in game and have their own smokehouse. A first visit and we will soon be back to sample the full menu, it was excellent.

To start I had the squabbit and Lu had the locally caught trout, both served with homemade sourdough, still warm from the oven.

For mains I had the pheasant and Lu the Muntjac burger (no photo as she had started to demolish it)

To finish I had the cheeseboard, the Stilton came from a quality wheel and not a catering block, Lu had the chocolate mousse.

I might not eat again today.
