What did you cook or eat today (March 2025)

We had to go to Miami today. It was apparently crazy/bad driver day. Nearly got sideswiped before we even got on the expressway by an a-hole who thought they were the most important person on the road and everyone else needed to get out of their way. I had to slam the brakes on and fortunately had a few feet to the left i was able to jerk the wheel over. Then, when getting on expressway, got cut off by a moving type truck driver. About half way into our trip, had 2 drivers that were obviously in a huge hurry. One of them nearly sideswiped someone driving over 75 MPH as that was apparently too slow. The 2 speed demons must have been doing 85-90 MPH as they were doing some low flying. Then, nearly to where a bunch of expressways come together and there are 5 lanes, a panel/delivery truck ws stopped in the middle lane, just stopped. This will be further written about later. We exit off to go west, we had been traveling south, on a different expressway. Get to our destination with just the usual lunacy of Miami drivers. Start heading back. Get on the northbound expressway, then about a mile to a dead stop. Traffic starts moving slowly. I notice, there's hardly any traffic going south and wonder why. You know that truck that was stopped in the middle of the expressway? Yep, another truck hit it because I guess the driver wasn't paying attention to the road. Debris and trucks were scattered across 4 of the 5 lanes. Cops  everywhere from several departments. Accident made the news tonight. No major injuries, but traffic backed up for miles and miles for hours going south because both trucks were on their sides, front of one slammed into the center median, plus all the debris.

Anyway, we made the delivery. After, picked up some Krispy Kremes, they were hot!, and some burgers and fries from Culver's on the way home.
Glad y'all made it through unscathed!

My wifes work has been cra cra with bad stuff happening. 1 ex pupil committee suicide but somehow my wifes boss Is getting all the blame eventhough his parents took him out of their school and put him in another school.
We think they dont want to take the blame blame for possibly '? Them removing him.. it's all a big s$infest.
Shes been in meetings with different organizations trying to sort out why. Tony will be first time home at normal time 5 o clock.
I just txt her we are having a quick tea of salmon on toast.

The tasting menu of Triptique was phenomenal. I understand the raving reviews, they currently have one Michelin star but I believe they deserve at least two. The food was stunning!
And very modern too, as the kitchen is based on the 80/20 philosophy ( 80% veg, 20% meat) to be substainable in the future. Chef Niven Kunz is known as the best vegetable chef in the Netherlands and it shows! We were very impressed ☺️
Also a nice detail: when we entered we were greeted personally by the Chef and he even knew who we were. They overall stood out in their welcoming hospitality.

Carrot tartare. Sounds odd? Well it blew our minds! We both agreed this blew the Wagyu tartare we had at Parkheuvel ( 2 stars) out of the water which is saying something! It was complex, beautiful and delicious ❤️

Broccoli leaf with hadden potato salad, grated marinated egg yolk, and a ponzu cream dressing. Lovely flavors

Clay baked leek with Vichisoisse sauce and black truffle. More beautiful than it looks!

An incredibly intense and almost psychedelic onion broth

Basil ice cream, cold tomato & strawberry consomme , diced Spanish tomato and strawberry , and a little sweet cream. A spectacular dessert that lingered on the tongue for a while.
And the whole experience left a sweet taste in our mouths ❤️ we're going back on my birthday ( August 14) ☺️

Usually, it doesn’t take long for me to encounter a dish that I wouldn’t eat, but nearly everything you’ve show so far, I’d try. It looks very good!
I wouldn't think of some of the things Niven made, and was sceptical about some stuff too. But it legitimately blew my mind . He's clearly a trailblazer.

Haven't been doing much else except work a lot recently, not even time to cook 😐
But did today as the youngest son is snowed under and I've never seen him so tired 😔
Made some Sunny Sunshine Breakfast Bars for him.
Lots of good slow release energy and a nostalgic blast from the past because I used to make these for them to take with them on the school bus.

I delivered them and then made him four lots of meatballs along for four variations- sub rolls for meatball subs, traditional mash potato and mashed carrot n swede, a woodfired pizza base for a meatball pizza and some fresh pasta.

Fourth portion is in the pot.
It was very nice to be cooking something again.

Hopefully things will get back to normal soon!
