What did you cook or eat today (May 2020)?

Last night we had chicken molé

I was inspired by a middle eastern recipe a friend made recently based on ground walnuts and an episode of Samin Nosrats podcast to make a molé with a lot of green tomatoes and ground almond, pepita & peanuts. I put all the ingredients in the slowcooker with some browned onions & chicken drumsticks. Removed drumsticks, blended sauce - returned shredded chicken meat.

I was pretty happy with the result - served with cinnamon spiced mashed sweet potato and a simple steamed carrot & choko with butter & lime.

Funny you should post the mole thing, I was just looking at one with chick peas I liked the look and sound of. I will make it soon. There was also a fish one there but not my cup of tea.

Having struggled to understand this I resorted to Indonesian translation and this is what I got!

"Soy sauce chicken and vegetable beans with peteh beans"

It looks delicious. :hungry:

What are petah beans?

Peteh beans are Indonesian ' smelly beans' Parkia speciosa - Wikipedia , a distinctive Indonesian vegetable. I love them, but some people hate the gassy smell. They are the round beans amid the green beans.

It's sweet , spicy soy sauce chicken with coconut bean stew.

The Indonesian Bahasa is similar to Malaysian Bahasa so I had a rough idea - although the beans threw me.
