Hubby is away from home, so I just reheated the last of the celeriac risotto and had that.

I'll cook something tomorrow because I've 3 random aubergines in the fridge, a head of broccoli, a ton of purple carrots and if I raid the garden, purple potatoes and yellow beans.
There are probably some heirloom tomatoes ripe as well. Not a clue what I'll make with that little lot, but I have seen a recipe for a curry that uses rhubarb as well, and I have that in the veg plot as well... not to mention squash, onions and a couple of sweetcorn cobs.

Catch up post again. Sorry folks. I was wearing contacts all weekend and can’t type on my phone with them in.

Thursday night - striploin & salad with too much Shiraz for a work night because it mucks up my sleep but it was delicious.

Nice. That cut is called a NY Strip in the US. That's what I had on Saturday (a few pages back).

I cut up some baguette for French toast. No vanilla extract but found some almond extract in my sister-in-law's cupboard. Whole milk and eggs and a deep soak made a nice custardy texture and flavor. Topped with goat cheese, strawberries and honey. Yummy!

I like using "French" bread for French Toast! hehe those baguettes get so darn tough the day after you buy them that this is my favorite way to use the leftover bread.

Since I got back to Caracas, I've had various people asking me when I'm going to do another "Indian Food" course. I hit on what I'd eaten plenty of in the UK: Indian Street Food. Like most decent street food, it's inherently unhealthy, slathered in all sorts of sauces, totally incoherent from an aesthetic point of view...
And unbelievably delicious and moreish. So here are a few examples which actually worked for me (there are several others which were a total disaster). In order, Aloo Tikki (potato cakes), Vadas (split pea balls); Gol gappas (crispy fried spheres of pastry filled with potato, chickpeas and slathered in chutneys) and Sundal (chickpeas with curry leaves, coconut and mustard seed)

I bailed on making something and opted for a freezer dive instead.

Nothing fancy, a serving of Palestinian upside down rice cake with serving of nuggets for some protein. I pulled it apart because after 8 minutes on high in the microwave I tested with a fork and it was still frozen in the middle :o_o: it went back for another 5 minutes spread across the plate!
