Afternoon snack plate:
Hickory Farms Beef Summer Sausage, Trader Joe's Sea Salt Pita Crackers, Hickory Farms Bacon Cheddar and three different Mustards for dipping - YUM!

I logged in with my VPN as if I am in London, and found the TESCO ad for Dino's Big Brooklyn Dogs. I looked at the ingredients...

Pork Meat (75%), Water, Iodised Salt (Salt, Potassium Iodate), Spices, Spice Extracts, Sugar, Stabiliser: Diphosphates, Antioxidant: Ascorbic Acid, Preservative: Sodium Nitrate, Beechwood Smoke

I assure you there is NOTHING Brooklyn about those dogs. I would NEVER buy those dogs. I wouldn't allow them in my house. I strongly recommend you stay away from them.

Oh, and they are made in Germany... which also surprised me. Made in China seems more in line, to me.

CD
Don’t worry I tend to stay away from meat in jars 😂

I did notice the bangers.

Hot dogs here are pretty much what you describe as frankfurters. Hot dogs in cans/tins or jars are a British thing, it appears. Hot dogs here are vacuum packed and stocked in refrigerated sections of stores.

There are different levels of Hot Dogs. There are the cheap-azz "mystery meat" dogs, then better quality beef and pork dogs, and 100-percent beef dogs, including Kosher hot dogs. Brands like Nathan's, Hebrew National (Kosher) and Vienna Beef (Chicago dogs) are the top mass-market brands.

A lot of Americans take hot dogs seriously. I do. I don't buy or consume "mystery meat" dogs. My normal purchase would be Nathan's. I can't buy Vienna Beef dogs here. I wish I could. A Chicago dog is a very special thing, if you get it "dragged through the garden."

There's also a "Detroit-style" hotdog, (at least that's what the homeless residents tell me) but I can't show you because it's a bannable offense.

There must be a street term by that name, because what I know as a Detroit style hot dog is basically a coney dog. It's a hot dog with chili sauce, onions and sometimes cheese. Same as a Coney Island dog in NYC.

I don't think I want to know what the other one is.

All joking aside, coney dogs are amazing. I can't resist getting them with "heavy everything" with a side of chili cheese fries. 🤤

What is it, apart from tasty looking?
It looks like breaded fried ravioli? But it's called toasted?
It’s breaded and deep-fried ravioli, hence the name “toasted.”

More than you ever wanted to know:

Toasted ravioli - Wikipedia

My nieces (who live near enough to StL) get very defensive about it when they see it on a menu anywhere outside their area.

Just tell them you have a friend in Texas who eats BBQ with NO sauce. None. Zero. And, it's beef!

CD

No photos  but I wasn't very hungry after that afternoon snack plate, even though it was small... I made for myself a Mushroom & Spinach 1&1/2 egg (I used one large egg and the yolk leftover from another dish) Omelette served with a glass of wine
and then I re-engineered DH leftover Ham & Swiss sandwich that he did not much care for from a local deli the other day.
He was happy and so was I.
I love breakfast for dinner and DH does not, so there ya go.

rascal surprisingly enough, they (did when I lived there) do play Polo on Oahu in Hawaii and we would go regularly.
Picnic, Adult Beverages, Desserts ... kinda Pot Luck. Loads of fun. Half time (or whatever it's called) they'd ask folks to come out on to the field and stomp down as many divots as you could.

Yep, the halftime stomp. My magazine sponsored the Dallas team. I never did the stomp. I spent the evening eating, drinking, and watching the young gold-diggers flirt with the wealthy old men.

Apparently the high school kid has 3 horses and his bro also has 3 horses. I know what that costs to feed. Mine were all fed lucerne. Wife knows his mum.
Chukka is a familiar name . Their float alone would be 100k.
