What did you cook or eat today (November 2024)

This is our last $20 Chicken Pot Pie from a farm not far from us.

This pie is six inches across by 1 1/2 inches deep, it's dang delicious, but I'm having a really hard time justifying the cost.
It's even better than what I have ever made... but
It serves us two with a side of steamed vegetables of some sort, with just a smidge leftover for my breakfast tomorrow.
What say you? Worth it or nay.

chicken pot pie is a fav here - I make my own - but frequently we just get Marie Callenders frozen.
they taste just about as good as home-made sauce/slice/dice/precook/fillings, etc.
not quite as pretty tho . . . my take:

I graduated from Ft Walton Beach high school in Florida! I just came off a month vacation that included my hometown of Destin, Florida (Destin didn't have its own high school back then). I didn't eat anything but seafood my whole time down there though.
That is the first time we have been to Destin-Fort Walton in many years. We had dinner one night at Louisiana Langnappi. Couple of meals at beach side seafood places. We normally go to Pensacola Beach. We have an RV and they have a wonderful park there. Centrally located.

We ate at Louisiana Lagniappe while we were there, too. I had the Grouper Louisianne and my DH had the Grouper Pontchartrain (one of my favorites from way back when). I spent a lot of time all over the Gulf Coast growing up. One of my best friends lives in Gulf Breeze (just over the bridge from Pcola) and my DH's cousins live in Navarre. I used to go to the clubs in both Panama City and Pcola when I was in my 20s to watch bands on a regular basis, plus of course going out to eat there. I lived in the Destin from 1962-1999. And don't get me started on New Orleans...probably been there at least 50 times for French Quarter Fest, Jazz Fest, and various concerts over the years.

I'm waiting for the recipe... Missus Next Door Neighbor is a HUGE fan of this dish and I've never made it before, so I look forward to your reaction to it. It looks delicious!
I’ll get it posted up tonight sometime. I’ve made this several times, it’s one of our favorites.
