Sitting in a (different) airport hotel (the menu is exactly the same, as are the prices…and it’s a different hospitality group from the usual hotel), and I had some French fries:

“Careful, these are hot! They just came out!”
<sets down lukewarm limp fries>

😒

Hubby made and served tea whilst I was in a lecture.

Looks great, but sadly very disappointing.
Under the mushroom wine sauce is a very under-cooked cauliflower steak. And the mushroom sauce whilst it smelled great when he was making it, was a disappointment. A waste of nice mushrooms sadly. We won't use that recipe again.

Super-soft warm rolls with some kind of sweetened whipped butter.

I had the chicken-fried chicken, with mashed potatoes and broccoli.

MrsT had a big slab of meatloaf, with a baked sweet potato and green beans.

This is our last $20 Chicken Pot Pie from a farm not far from us.

This pie is six inches across by 1 1/2 inches deep, it's dang delicious, but I'm having a really hard time justifying the cost.
It's even better than what I have ever made... but
It serves us two with a side of steamed vegetables of some sort, with just a smidge leftover for my breakfast tomorrow.
What say you? Worth it or nay.

I love mushrooms, but unfortunately, they're very expensive over here (about $20 per kilo) so I very rarely buy them.
However, over the years, I think there's one guaranteed way to cook them which ensures maximum mushroom flavour.
Hot pan; butter (or olive oil for vegans). Slice the mushrooms and add to the pan, but don't add salt, yet. Cook until the mushrooms begin to release their water (85-95% water). Keep cooking until a good amount of that water has evaporated and then add salt, aromatics, whatever you want.
How do you make them?

Tonight I’m making NOLA BBQ shrimp. Have been traveling recently. Stopped at a German restaurant in Fort Walton Florida. I spent some time in Germany about 45 years ago. Haven’t had real German brats since then. Johnsonville isn’t close. Had a real German beer. So good and smooth. Next time I go back that way I’m going to get one of their schnitzels. A German couple own and operate it. She is a hoot. Blue hair and a bunch of tattoos. Sad her husband does all the meats. He was a butcher back in their home land. Other than that, we hit some places we have been to before that were not as good as they had been before. Some places had closed.
I graduated from Ft Walton Beach high school in Florida! I just came off a month vacation that included my hometown of Destin, Florida (Destin didn't have its own high school back then). I didn't eat anything but seafood my whole time down there though.
