What did you cook or eat today (October 2020)?

I had my first go at making traditional English style pork pies. Very happy with the result....though could possibly streamline the process a bit as I started making these two days ago, to be ready to eat today. As you can see they are very rustic looking.

Wow, they look great! A good pork pie is the food of the gods.

We had chance to eat out today and at a career I've not visited since February (only because of its location). Since then, they have revamped their menu and there is now a breakfast and a separate main lunch vegan options and not a case of if we omit this we can make it vegan... or as in the past, I've literally just said to make a vegan salad because they didn't have anything inn the menu. Now they do and given that it was only 10am, we had to settle for trying the breakfast option.

It was actually very good, even if I do like my sweet potato slightly more cooked and less crunchy than these were.

"SPT (Vegan) (GF) Smashed avocado, crispy radish, chives, pea shoots, hummus, crispy chickpeas, tomato basil salsa, fried tempeh" served on grilled sweet potato and with a vegan pesto, red onion, pansies and a few other things!

Looks good but I can't spot the pansies!

Edit - they are black?
Yes, most were black (deep purple) but one or two were blue and white, though they were on the otherwise of the food! A 3rd black on is just hidden by the food on the plate at the very top. You can just see the tip of it.

First time for me, I made creamed spinach for MrsT:

She always orders it at our "special occasion" meals out. I was a little nervous, because I couldn't taste the spinach to see how it was seasoned, so I had to guess.

I asked her how it compared, and I got a muffled mouthful response: "BETTER!"

Bad pic, but we had thrown-together sandwiches after that:

I was proud of that, because it was a "leftovers" recipe: I had French bread to use up, some pre-prepped onion-tomato-peppers mix to use, and I added cheese, used cube steak, and that was that.

I've never eaten creamed spinach. A lot of Prime Steakhouses offer it as a side, but I usually get asparagus and some kind of potatoes. I'll have to try it sometime.

I've never eaten it either. I don't like spinach. It's considered a steakhouse/supper club classic. At those meals, I always get the hash browns.

When I do make spinach for her, it's always baby spinach. This was the first time I ever cooked mature spinach, so there was a lot of trimming and chopping going on. MrsT said that the mature spinach was much more flavorful.
