What did you cook or eat today (October 2023)?

That’s because a lot of restaurants use those cartons of already-mixed eggs for scrambled eggs and omelettes.

I actually never knew there was frozen egg catering product - shows what I know. Yeah I suppose if you need to make 200 scrambled egg dishes pouring out of a carton is a lot quicker.

We went out for Tex-Mex (or what we’d just call Mexican around here).

I don’t know what I had, it was the “Vegetarian Combo #1” on the menu, so I just went with that. MrsT had shrimp fajitas, which she was extremely happy with. Those are very low points for her in WW.

Her drink (pictured elsewhere) was some kind of super-margarita, with about five kinds of booze in it. She loved it.

I LOVE a frozen watermelon rita.

Nice to see you, James! Fantastic looking food as always.

You certainly can't deny that you got some calories from that. Which brew did you choose?
I had the Country Boy Shotgun Wedding brown ale - ‘Twas good.

We were talking beer prices earlier. A comparison:

22oz Sam Adams at hotel next to airport - $14US

22oz craft brown ale at fancy cinema - $9

24oz Modelo Especial at small-town restaurant - $4.50.

Our first day in Singapore mid 90s. We went on top of hotel for a swim. A waiter came around so I ordered a jug of beer. The slip said $24. WHAT!!! I was paying about $5 at home. I said to the guy that's a ripoff for that process I'm keeping the jug.He smiled and walked away.
I bought the jug home with me. Son has it in his bar.
Dont smile at me after ripping me off lol

I figured is was Cincy-Mex. The top item looks a little bit like enchiladas(???) with something I don't recognize on the side. The shrimp fajitas were obvious, and looked pretty good.

I don’t know what it was, but I’d had pulled pork for lunch and didn’t want any more meat, so I got that. It was basically a plate of beans and cheese.

This place is in town, huge Mexican family own and run it, but it’s definitely in that sort of Chi-Chi’s/Don Pablo category of menu items - nothing that’s going to make anyone nervous about what they’re eating.

They’re opening a second place in town soon, something a little more upscale.

When I travel, I generally avoid Mexican/Texican food, since it is so abundant here, and a lot of it is really good. But, every now and then, somebody in someplace like New Jersey will take me to "this really great Mexican place."

So it's that great time of "year" when you know you're going away, you live off fresh veg and fruit mostly and everything you've got, right down to onions won't survive until you reopen home again in 4 weeks time...

So 2kg of onions became a Persian Onion Soup with Eggy Bread...
I added in some walnuts and apricots as per the recipe, but also thought that the sweetness of the apricots needed balancing with something, so our came the barberries. They worked really well together.
(The recipe gives 'extras' to go in the soup, but also states not all at once. They are walnuts, spinach and apricots.)

Despite the appearance, it is actually a very tasty and very easy soup to make.
