What did you cook or eat today (October 2023)?

I probably won't eat again today. I had a big breakfast. I hadn't planned to have lunch but I had heartburn from my steroids and gaviscon wasn't touching it, so I ate something instead because it was causing me breathing problems (heartburn always causes me breathing issues).

This was the first time we've been asked how well cooked we wanted a vegan burger cooking! Apparently some people like them rare. That's a new one on me.

I have to say that it was very good, too much salt on the chips mind you (our fault for forgetting to say no salt) but otherwise if we ignore the airport prices (2 vegan burger with chips and 2 coffees = €60) it was very good, if a tad messy to eat!

Had some friends over for lunch yesterday. Always start with some "pasapalos", the local terms for "snacks", "amuse bouche" "botanos", etc.
Olives were marinated with lime juice, garlic and thyme. Sidekick went down well. On the right, cream cheese, bacon and artichoke hearts, loosened up a bit with some mayo. Found some wonderful bread as well, made from sourdough.

Yikes. That's bad.
My doctor puts me on blood thinners for travel now since my PEs a few years back. They were blood clots that broke free from my life saving surgery on my neck. I also wear medical compression stockings as well. I'm watching a sore spot on the front of my shin at the moment. It's not exactly the right place for a clot but I don't remember knocking it, though it doesn't mean I haven't. The 2nd leg of the flight saw our legs swell badly. We went for a very long walk yesterday around Helsinki just to clear some of that swelling. It knew it was working when half way around the lake we were walking around, I had to stop to relace both boots because they were now too loose not too tight!
I may be the only one here, but I absolutely love spending time in airports and taking long flights and hopping from airport to airport. The long flights are challenging, because I can't sleep on a plane, but they're simultaneously fun, because I love being inside a plane. The longest flight I ever took was slightly over 12 hours, Munich to Hong Kong, and that was fun.

But of course never forget to stretch your legs and move around a bit. I can still remember when I was around 16, on New Year's eve we went to pick up a friend's mom from the airport who was flying from Philadelphia to Lisbon, and on her flight a woman had died from pulmonary embolism.

I was flying South East Asia to Amsterdam, KLM I guess. It was a day flight. I asked the stewardess to bring me red wine to help me to sleep. She brought me red wine for about 9 hours each time saying "Are you not asleep yet?"

When we landed she was surprised that I could still walk.

Even I was surprised that I could still walk!

We've missed too many connections when we've had even 3hrs spare previously and missing long haul flights through no fault of our own is problematic to say the least.
My sweet spot for layovers is three hours. It allows me plenty of time to find out where the gate is, to walk around and see what’s on offer for food and drink, to have some of that food and drink, and to burn some nervous energy.

I had a vegan "burger" once (Imposible Burger), and the server told me to go at least medium, or better yet, medium-well. He said the texture of a medium-rare vegan burger is mushy.

Looks fab!

That spaghetti carbonara Pic I posted a couple days ago, got deleted from Reddit. I posted it to a FOOD sub reddit and I violated the rules. I don't understand life anymore. That website is garbage.

I did use a site called "photobucket" (I think that was the name) which was a free storage site. Then they decided to charge - £45.00/month!!!

Luckily they gave a week or two's notice so I had time to pull all the images off.
