What did you eat or cook today (December 2024)?

I actually have an Asian chicken noodle soup for "Poorly People Who Need A Blanky and Some Crap TV.”

Recipe - Chicken ginger noodle vege soup

No, you can't yell at me again because I posted another recipe! :D
I think I have to because it’s just shy of 3am here and I’m now seriously considering getting up to make soup… MEDTRRRRAAAAN!

Hashbrown casserole with hatch chili and Gouda cheese. If I ever see that cheese again I will make this dish again. Had a 1 1/2 lb honey baked sliced ham. Heated it up and made up a sauce to baste it with. We aren’t much for hams so we probably won’t have it again for at least a year.

I think I’m having a burger from either McDs or Burger King today as Mr SSOAP came back from foraging yesterday with gherkins and sliced cheese which are always a precursor to burgers (because they always need more gherkin and the lacto free cheese is kinder on the stomach than the stuff they use).

I haven’t asked what the gherkins and cheese are for because the anticipation of eating normal food is exciting!
I can only have these things when I’m in Spain because they do gluten free.
I definitely won’t be checking if it’s sulphite free until after I’ve eaten it 😂

How'd that taste?

They're awesome. Lot of chili heat, nice juicy real chicken leg meat in crisp breading. Bit hard to eat though due to its vertical size and all the lettuce fell out the side (taking all the mayo with it) on the first bite so I ended up having to put bits of it on each bite.

It says 'promo' item because they don't normally have the double, but the single is a McD Singapore permanent menu item.

In a sad and contrasting episode, about 2 weeks ago I had the KFC Double Down burger. I've had it before and it was great, but this time it was dried out and cardboardy and that made me sad. If you've never seen one of these in your local KFC, it's a chicken burger where instead of two bread buns they've give you two bits of chicken instead, and the middle is some bacon, mushrooms and cheese and other sauce. Conclusion: it can be hit or miss.
