I have previously assumed that it is to "spread" on the cat scratcher to encourage the cat(s) to use the scratcher?

There's not a lot in a sachet; not enough for a joint anyway!

Very small following, a guy that worked for me played it. Softball is big here, I coached a few teams that did pretty well. Our kids made lifetime friends with their team mates, who's parents became our best friends as well. The nz teams are up there with the best, we've won world champs as well.
I'm still in touch on poo pourri book with kids I coached 30 years ago.
