As you can see, if I purchased it all from a Supermarket it would have cosr me £45.66 for this little lot but I only paid £21.25 for it all.

Looking forward to the crackling on the pork!!

Went to the butchers determined to get a thick cut steak. Every single time I show them how thick I want them they start off slightly under where I’ve indicated and then cut progressively smaller. I don’t know why but it doesn’t matter where you go it’s the same thing, they find it impossible to cut a steak much over an inch thick.

So today I went armed with a trusty piece of cardboard 6cm (2.34inches) wide for them to use as a guide.

This’ll raise the steaks.. I’ll get mi coat.

Sadly my eldest son has developed a very marked intolerance to sulphites. He was ill on his birthday, my birthday and his brothers birthday, really quite ill only half way into the evening, didn’t even make it to pud!
On one occasion he developed a marked pin prick rash all over his face. Initially thought it might be the snails or shellfish but no it’s wine and beer 😞

His greatest sadness is no stout, Guiness is was his favourite pint.
So this morning I emailed a brewery that doesn’t declare sulphites in their ingredients list assuming it was just an omission from the description but no they don’t use any in their beers! 👏

I’ve just ordered him a mixed box to try 👍

This brewery dug a well in 1758 and are still making beer the same way from it now.
Quite remarkable to think there’s a still very deep well in this building on the high street!

Their beer is barrel aged and they still even have their own on site coopers so make and repair barrels.
The first new cooper in 30 years finished their apprenticeship in 2019 so in keeping with hundreds on years of tradition they put him in a barrel covered him on hops, poured a pail of beer over him and rolled him down the road 😂

The high street backs onto the river wye so in this high street is also the Heineken brewery and John Smiths!

I can’t wait to see my sons face when he find’s out sulphite free stout is here! 😊

We’ve never had a Sam Smith’s beer we haven’t liked. It’s available here if you know where to look.

Our favorite pub in London is also a Sam Smith’s house (The Rising Sun, near Spittalfields).

Went to Fresh Market, a very slightly cheaper Whole Foods type place for those that don't have them, for clams. They had 3, yes 3, littleneck clams.

So, I wondered around a little, came home with 2 each of cannolis and eclairs, and 3 blueberry scones to the tune of $24.

We'll go to the restaurant supply place next week for clams. Stone crab season opened yesterday so we'll see if they have any of them too.

Sam Smith's make very good beer, so your son will probably be over the moon!
I'd only be wary of the chocolate stout; you might find a bar of Cadbury's Dairy Milk in it...
I baulked at the chocolate stout but people rave about it 🤷‍♀️
I’ll warn him about the potential chunks of dairy milk shooting towards his schnozzer 😂
