What produce/ingredients did you buy or obtain today (2024)?

I imagine that's the sweet, Bavarian mustard, darkish brown, right?
That stuff is delicious! I could eat it straight from the jar.
Yep, though they make a whole line of mustards. I haven’t had one I’ve disliked.

One of those best-kept secrets about Cincy is our Händlmaier’s Mustard Club, which hosts a monthly Saturday morning sausage buffet - several varieties of locally-made sausages (hot mettwurst my personal favorite), potato salad, kraut, pretzels, beer cheese, lunchmeats, cheeses, full bar, and plenty of Händlmaier’s mustard! 😋

That might be going on my America hit list!!

You’ll have to be in town on the second Saturday. If you’re extra lucky, it’ll be one of the special meetings, like the Rubber Boot Kicking Contest, or the Medals Contest, which is just a group beer-chugging contest (and, I’m proud to say, MrsT has three medals from that one!).

Mrs T has a date 😂

Ho ho, it’s German week at Aldi (with a little Kroger mixed in):

I finally decided on a little birthday treat.
Booked delivery for friday.

I think I’m going to do very little/nothing to them and eat them like a snack.
I’m thinking something plain like maybe whip up a nice homemade garlic mayonnaise or a Thermidor style butter but I’m not sure 🤔
What would you put with them?

We stopped at one of my old haunts, this lovely International Market.

Four pounds of New Zealand Green Lip Mussels, de-shelled for DH.
IMG_4495.JPG

13 cans, again, for DH.
IMG_4494.JPG

4 Portuguese Sausages from Hawaii, and 4 Kamaboko.

I'd never seen Smoked Sardines before and thought that DH would enjoy them. I see on the lip of the jar, these are from Latvia.
And I'm always on the look out for Anchovies from Italy... SOOOOOOOO much better, though I dislike them, I still know what my husband prefers.

I was almost out of Hondashi and was hunting high and low in the market. I had to find someone who spoke English to help me.

I had a million errands to do on Friday,so I was hurtling around the city from left to right. Then, I remembered the Chinese/Oriental grocery store and simply had to pay a visit. (L to R): rice cooking wine; black vinegar, rice flour, sesame oil.
I couldn't find tinned water chestnuts or peanut oil (which really tastes of peanuts) but hey ho - that's a good enough excuse to merit another trip!
