What produce/ingredients did you buy or obtain today (2024)?

Daughter got herself ingredients for choc chip butter cookies, and for lunch:lettuce, sweet potato, she was in the cooking mood ( after taking/ continuing her anti anxiety pills), aiming for Ceasar's I think.

She also got potatoes for Grandma.✌️

International market, Kroger, and ALDI (part 1):
You mean to say you went to the International Market and didn't buy:
1) Indian samosas
2) Japanese gyozas
3) Thai red curry paste
4) French chaource goat cheese
5) Spanish chorizo
6) Greek souvlaki ???
Shame on you! :laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:

( Bet you had a beer there, though!:bravo::bravo:)

The extent of my globetrotting was Walkers, Tayto, and PG Tips. You mean there are other parts of the world beyond The British Isles*?

Seriously, the main things I went for were the clotted cream (afternoon tea before month’s end) and for the…

What's the white root? Horseradish?
…daikon, which you’ll see in a bit in the “What Jumped Down Me Gob?” topic.

*Note to self - open British goods brick-and-mortar store and call it “The British Aisles” - it can’t lose!

THAT... is an excellent idea. you could do cooking demonstrations on how to make proper English tea, how to make scones, how to cook a proper Sunday Roast, the perfect fish & chips, yes...
Newsflash, 2029, California:
"The renowned entrepreneur and Anglophile, TastyReuben, has just opened his 25th franchise of The British Aisles in Montecito, CA. Prince Harry and his wife Meghan are said to be highly enthusiastic about the project, especially as they will finally be able to sell some of her jam. "

A visit to the Lebanese store (yesterday) but I didn't have photos until today: (left to right, clockwise)
  • Pita Bread
  • Bulghur cracked wheat #2 (for making tabbouleh, although #3 is better)
  • Lebanese pickles
  • Spiced olives stuffed with pimiento
  • Rose water
  • Pickled wild cucumbers
  • Pickled hot peppers (not very hot by my standards)
  • Torshi Left - pickled turnips with beetroot

We stopped at the Farm again today and I picked up another small pot pie and this time they had plenty of small apple pies.
And I must say that "salad cucumber" is delicious! Worth every penny at $4/lb.
The two pies were $19.95 each, we'll see how the apple is later this evening.
