What produce/ingredients did you buy or obtain today (2025)?

Oh gawd, the pannier thing. I finally found some which are double what I’d like to pay but I’’m desperate now and they’re out of stock!
So I watch a few you tube on them and an American guy who’s got some and is reviewing them says it’s taken him 9 months to find anything suitable for his bike. So faster than me but still not ideal!

Now I’m conversing with an old British leather workshop who have been making satchels since the 60’s. Even though they’re members of the Guild of Master Craftsmen it will likely work out cheaper to have something bespoke made than pay the stupid prices they demand for panniers. Anyway they are sending me leather samples so fingers crossed.
Two panniers for the Indian are £1500. They aren’t even that nice so that one can definitely wait!!!

Anyways I suppose in some vague form that’s produce I’d like to obtain, even if it’s not food 😜 The prices they charge they should come with a lifetime supply of vinegar.
If you're going to have them made then make sure there's a vinegar pouch built in!

Sounds like me getting a smoker. Everyone is like buy one and I'm like but I can build one that's -perfect-. 👌

Personally I think building one is the way to go if you have the materials and the will to do it because you can make it big enough to smoke larger batches.
I have a halfway house - a Ninja Outdoor Grill and Smoker.
I absolutely love that bit of kit, so much so I’ve bought it into the house for the winter.
But the restricted size of the pellet box and smoker capacity means I spend just and long tending to a small batch as you would a large and that tiny pellet box means a lot more back n forth!

A larger purpose built one would allow for a larger smoke tray and yield larger quantities.
If I was getting into smoking big time it would definitely be a tall upright box affair, one that you can dangle long chains of sausages in.

Oh dear still off topic. I’m going to shut up now 😂

I was reading about carobs meteoric rise in the 70’s and its fast fall from grace.
They said it was because it was hailed as a fantastic healthy replacement for chocolate and many children were set against carob after thinking they were being given chocolate only to be very disappointed it was carob.. they never wanted it again 😂

I was one of those children 😆
From that carob ‘chocolate’ bar on I knew I never wanted it again.
But apparently it is a nice ingredient and doesn’t deserve it’s stigma so I’m going to give it a second chance 🤪🤣
