I have to admit that I take absolutely no notice of calories on a menu. In fact, I find it rather annoying. I'm wondering what other scare factors are going to appear next; like a WARNING on your beer glass:I find the calories on the menu quite terrifying.
I had several at Cipriani's on the Isle of Giudecca back in the 90s. A woman dripping with jewels sat next to us in the bar matching me drink for drink. We all moved into the restaurant for dinner, though at separate tables. We were staying at a hotel on the Grand Canal and the restaurant provided a private teak launch with velvet upholstery between Venice proper and the island. We had our 2nd honeymoon in Italy, 1982. I booked a table at Harry's Bar, and we had Bellini's, carpaccio, ravioli and the most divine fish I've ever eaten!
They annoy me too.I have to admit that I take absolutely no notice of calories on a menu. In fact, I find it rather annoying. I'm wondering what other scare factors are going to appear next; like a WARNING on your beer glass:
"Too much beer will give you a beer gut! "
(already got one, thanks.)
MrsT and I, our first proper date was out at a sort of tavern/bar - hearty foods and salads, lots of beer and whiskey, that sort of place.I've stopped eating out with one of my friends completely after she ordered a caesar salad with no bacon, no dressing, no croutons and then after wolfing down her dry lettuce and dry chicken sat there constantly staring at my fish n chips!
If I could it would be the gravy n biscuits.
Oh yes! MarvellousMrsT and I, our first proper date was out at a sort of tavern/bar - hearty foods and salads, lots of beer and whiskey, that sort of place.
I’d been on a date or two with other girls, same place (being a small town with limited options, it was the nicest place I could afford), and they always chose the salad for their meal…not MrsT.
She chose this whopping Mexican lasagne - tortillas for the noodles, taco meat, refried beans, cheese for the filling, salsa and sour cream all over it…it must have weighed in at about 3 1/2 pounds!
“That’s the one for me,” said both my head and my heart!

I had the Christmas Cheer Chai, and MrsT had the North Pole Mocha Latte, but with hot chocolate instead of coffee. Both are unbelievably good.
They also have chocolates:

And a load of imported European sweets and biscuits and things:

I’m having an Alaskan Amber right now, as they were out of their signature marzen.
Hey…is that detroitdad & The Late Night Gourmet at the bar?!
Yep! It was a big cup of real whipped cream and thick, thick sugary syrupy liquid.I'm wondering what that might have been.
I made masala chai a few weeks ago; black tea infused with ginger, cinnamon, cloves and cardamom, steeped for about 15 minutes. Then strained, milk added and heated up with a small amount of sugar.
White chocolate on that??
Teeth - cringing, right? It was a big cup of real whipped cream and thick, thick sugary syrupy liquid.
