I love suprises so I never choose what dish I'm going to eat until I get to the restaurant.
My pick-a-meal-ahead-of -time involves deciding whether it's going to be Indian, Italian, Spanish, Venezuelan, Chinese, Thai, Japanese, Korean, Mexican, Mediterranean, or whatever.
