Christmas 2024

My niece - her tree went up and was fully decorated, inside the house decorated November 1st. She’s also informed me that since then, they’ve been eating nothing but “Christmas food.”
God forbid... so is she going to have roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding for Thanksgiving?

It was very hard to do but I feel happy with the outcome 😊
I did that many years ago. 1995 was the first time I was not there for family Christmas. It was hard, hard on both families, but have our 'family' chance to have time alone.

We works go camping, either the lake district or highlands, though one year it was Stockholm.

Best thing we ever did. We told families that they could join us if they wanted to. We'd stay at one family in the way up and one on the way back, alternating each year.

No one ever joined us.

Peace at last!

Almost there.

Something I've been doing for the last few years is a Xmas lucky dip. It sort of replaces the Xmas stocking. Lots of fairly low cost little presents are placed wrapped, in a suitable contaner and everyone can pick 5 or so each. They can then swap with each other, keep, or donate (if nobody wants the gift). Its quite fun...

Well this evening took a late night Christmas turn.
I went to say goodnight to Mr SSOAP and one son as they’re watching a film and said do you fancy going to Spain soon?
Mr SSOAP replied yes ok, how about after the Freemancipation celebrations on Saturday and Sunday next week?
Son said I’ll look stay here and look after the dogs if you like.

So I had a quick look at flight prices and immediately booked flights out there.. but not back 😂

I did once ask you what you did with all those wicker baskets! I can't remember what you said...
Here’s an example:

That’s our little F&M hamper, scissors included for scale, and it’s packed up for tomorrow’s road trip - there are two stoneware mugs in there, a bag of coffee beans, the Aeropress and the filters for it. Quite a lot for such a small basket.
