How is the corona virus affecting you?

We don't go down to Miami Beach anymore because of all the craziness that goes on there. Would love to go to some of the restaurants that are on MB, but between all the craziness, the traffic to get there, the parking issues and the driving distance, we don't want to visit them that much. In fact, we try to avoid going to Miami-Dade County as much as possible. Every time we've moved, we move a little further north.

Well, Miami Beach made the news again this morning. The curfew is largely being ignored and officers from other areas were called in again. They showed film of a huge crowd with girls up dancing on car hoods, lots of people not wearing masks, drinking, etc. They have also closed the causeways over to the beach starting at 10 p.m. You have to go through a checkpoint if you live there or are staying in a hotel and show your valid ID. The causeways were completely packed, bumper to bumper, and, being that the causeways are basically bridges, there are few places to make a U turn. One resident of MB they interviewed said it took her 3.5 hours to get home from work.

ETA: One of the spring breakers was interviewed. She whined "it's not fair, we're here on spring break!"

I just got my first shot. I got the Pfizer vaccine. The Pfizer vaccine showed efficacy of 95% at preventing symptomatic Covid infection after two doses. That's the highest of all the vaccines. I’ll get the second shot next month. They’ve got a really well oiled machine here in Frisco at the Cowboys headquarters medical facility. They must be doing hundreds of people per hour.

We just heard the lockdown will likely be extended to at least June 1st, which would mean a 6 month total lockdown. Our government is going for the Guinness book of records it seems.
And as for vaccines, we're behind schedule and we were already slow, so I wonder if even June 1st will be attained.
I'm pretty fed up with it all.

I’m listening to the news and looks like a million of Pfizer vaccine doses are now travelling headed to Italy. Other 3 millions will arrive within the end of March.
Let’s see how it goes, I’m not feeling relieved yet for several reasons, try to stay positive it’s quite hard.

It is hard. Head up. Focus on what is positive. And more of it will follow.

All around the world, people are getting more and more tired of Covid and lockdown restrictions. Here in Portugal we were going through an awful time with an absurd number of people hospitalized with Covid, deaths and infection rates on the rise. Once lockdown was implemented again, numbers quickly dropped and we're, once again, a poster for effective Covid management.

But, no one is really taking lockdown Covid seriously this time. Even doctors, who demanded, begged and cried for a new lockdown, are not following it strictly. Everyone I know has not respected lockdown to a T, including doctors. No one is going to parties or hosting dinners for a large audience but they visit parents, siblings and friends. The fact that even the people who are on the frontline are not taking restrictions seriously is proof of how fed up we all are.

I'm a generally positive person, and I love my life even under these circumstances.

Your advice is good, however focussing on what is positive doesn't resolve the situation where we currently are. It's OK to feel disheartened and sad about the state of things, trying to repress feelings will only make them come back with a vengeance.
I'm glad people use this thread as a way to vent, because keeping it all in definitely won't help.

Texas dropped almost all the Covid rules, including masks. Most businesses still require them, but some businesses are getting vandalized, owners are getting death threats at their businesses and HOMES. A fast food restaurant manager near Houston escorted a non-mask fanatic to the door -- and got stabbed three times.

For the most part, at least in Frisco, people are wearing masks, and I haven't seen any altercations. I hope it stays that way.

I agree with you, it cannot resolve, it might just make it a tiny bit easier to go through.
There are many factors we cannot influence, and only the attitude one's personal each of us can. That was my main point.
Oh and absolutely it is hard, brings up a lot of anxiety and frustration, I am not denying that at all.
And yes, the thread and the forum are great to vent.
Anything that helps, and is not a true criminal act, is ok.
