How is the corona virus affecting you?

Yeah in Dutch.

'Coronamoeheid' = corona fatigue
'Vaccinatiebereidheid' = Vaccination willingness
'Anderhalvemetermaatschappij' = 1 1/2 metre society
'Amateurviroloog' = amateur virologist (ie someone who thinks they know better than the experts)
'Vaccinatiegraad' = amount of vaccinations placed nationally

Etc. We've got tons of them.

In Mercan English,

corona fatigue = corona fatigue
vaccination willing = vaccination willing
amateur virologist = Donald Trump

I broke a pinky toe about 20 years ago. I accidentally kicked a chair leg barefoot while running to answer the phone. That was extremely painful. There is nothing a doctor can do to fix it. They just taped the broken toe to the next toe. It took a long time to heal. If you look at an X-ray taken after a few months, the two pieces of the bone don't line up, and never will.

Yeah, she accidentally kicked the bed leg...luckily she has no pain...when they took tje x-ray 2 w ago, the bone was broken, but had not moved,or displaced...she steps onto her heel part when walking now, avoiding the toes...in a week she will try to use the whole foot. Yes, taped too.

Sorry your toe bone did not line up. I hope you had no issues with shoes or walking...

A friend of mine sent me this photo of a queue at “Pane Quotidiano”, an Onlus in Milano that distributes daily bread (hence the name Pane Quotidiano),other food and clothes.

He lives near it and said “this was yesterday. Lots of people who lost their job and home during pandemic. It’s heart broken”.

Sadly that’s what I saw recently when help the homeless center, not only homeless but lots of people who lost everything.

PabloLerntKochen: I am just learning of new German words related to the pandemic:
  • anderthalbmetergesellschaft - 1 1/2-meter society,
  • coronamüde - COVID fatigue
  • impfdrängler - vaccine envy (when someone gets the vaccine and you haven’t had it yet)
Are there any others you are hearing?

German is fairly unique in the way that words are combined to create new words. Are people in other countries hearing anything similar?
All of these words are new to me and I haven't heard any other funny/cabaret like words mentioning corona due to the fact that I use all of my time and energy to get the culinary exam in germany, I'm sorry that I can't help much, but if you would like to have a source for german cabaret to learn more german visit this site, it's political and sometimes dirty.

I din't feel anything until I slept, and woke up a little sore. As I used my arm during the day, the mild pain pretty much went away.

CD
Very mildly sore this morning, but it's in an arm that troubles me for other reasons, so I barely notice it. 21 April for shot #2.

Media report and a co-worker posted at our work group that a lot of schools might be thrown back to online learning model as of 29.03. Official decisions are due tomorrow 26.03. and Fruday 27.03.
Our secretary assumes the individual classes (1 teacher/1 pupil) will continue in person. We shall hear soon.

I just checked my bank account, and my stimulus money was deposited yesterday, just as the IRS said it would. :woot:

No big purchases -- well, not that I want to make. I have a home repair that I need to make before summer heat arrives. That will eat half of the stimulus money. :( House payment will eat another $550. That leaves about $150 to spend frivolously on things like food. :laugh:

The category of at risk people I am in is supposed to get a vaccine in April, but it gets postponed by two weeks every time. Let's see, I hope they are right and my time is coming.

How many of the vaccines are available in the Netherlands? We now have three available in the US -- Pfizer, Moderna and recently added, J&J. That probably plays a part in why the US is averaging around 2.4 million shots per day.

3 Million doses total (which have been used for 2.8 million vaccinations currently), including Pfizer, Moderna, Astrazenaca and Jansen (a Dutch only vaccine). In april it's supposed to become 4 million. One reason our government is so slow, is that it's not been given the promised amount of vaccines by Astrazenaca and a few others and the manufacturers keep delaying.

So what you do in a day, we have done in 3 months.
