How is the corona virus affecting you?

Had second jab about 10 days ago, got head cold two days ago, I hardly ever get colds, I’m hoping it’s just a coincidence. This ones annoying.

The BBC news were running a piece tonight on how the NZ govt have just changed policy from chasing zero infection to aligning itself with the rest of the world with vaccination and managing local outbreaks. I guess, nearly two years in, total isolation from the rest of the planet doesn't look sustainable.

They are like everything else, way too slow. I’ve read a few articles from uk and ozzy media about our country is a joke. I concur, they achieve nothing, alltalk, pm and deputy have degrees in communication and arts, and they are ruining our country borrowing like crazy. They funded nearly 3 million on mongrel mob gangs. They just cancelled a cycleway worth 100s of millions after spending51 million. The media are funded by the government so it’s all happy happy. It ain’t!!

Guys! Don't be in such a rush to get the booster shot!! Let the required time elapse so that you don't end up sick from it! Being in too much of a rush might make you a little sick! The mews media is saying maybe 6 to 8 months from the time that you got the 2nd shot. 😱 :whistling:

According to the family RN, Pfizer is recommending 6 months (they originally said 8 months). The CDC is going with Pfizer's recommendation. Moderna does not have a timeline recommendation, yet.

I don't know about any other vaccines.

The time difference is mostly to do with the effectiveness of the original mNRA, which was designed for the Alpha. The booster is for the Delta so a person may have a little more protection going forward until the next variant drifts across the world and we get a new booster. Personally it would be better in the interest of all living beings that they concentrate on getting areas that have low vaccination rates to provide and move vaccines to these countries instead of worrying whether richer countries have a few more percentages better protection.........

Damn, I hate politicians. I've been following NZ on the virus and it's just mindboggling the direction they took. They were under the impression that all they needed to do was protect themselves....you can't hide under the bed forever. I feel for people of NZ.

My wife had her 2nd about 4 months ago but as she works in a care home (and it's classed vulnerable) they all had to get the booster as soon as it was offered.
Our eldest is due his booster in a week but probably won't need it now he has proper covid.

It's not COVID that has be knocked this morning. No, it's a all out nasty head cold. Sinuses are running like a drippy faucet and coughs. My sinuses are dripping so much that I have been blowing my nose with a wash cloth and it gets sop and wet. Cooler temperatures and overcast skies have let the cold virus multiply and take its aim on me.

It's time to get some lysol and wipe things down, bleach things, anything I touch frequently. Take my home remedy of garlic, honey, zinc and echinacea. And spend an hour or two outside with the sunlight, what little there is on overcast days, to shine down on my face and let its rays penetrate my forehead and nasal area to kill the cold virus in my sinuses.

And I've tossed the old face mask and pulled out a fresh new one. I will likely toss that again in a couple days. I have 49 left in the box.

I'm just getting over a cold that I've had for three weeks, general medical opinion is that we are all going to get ill over this winter because lockdowns have given our immune systems 18 months off... oh joy!

I just did two vaccines, one for flu and the other for pneumonia. Unfortunately, there is no vaccine for the common cold virus.

Colds and allergies have very similar symptoms, and everybody has allergies, whether or not they believe they do. In the case of flyinglentris, who will not see this post, I have to wonder about trace amounts of smoke from all the fires in California. If so, going outside to sit in the sun could be counterproductive.

It is ragweed pollen season in Texas, so I have been dealing with a runny nose, itchy eyes and a sore throat from sinus drainage. I try not to spend a lot of time outside when ragweed is spewing its pollen. And, as much as I would love to drive with the windows down, and the sunroofs open now that the weather is nice, I keep everything closed and use the air conditioning.

I have also learned from Covid, that wearing a mask outside during ragweed season helps. Not completely, but it makes a difference.

I have had my Covid shots, my annual flu shot, and I am not due for another pneumonia shot, yet -- they are good for five years.
