Well, that you should be. And you definitely need to watch out for that. We were in Germany years ago, and I bought a German dress hat at a trachten shop in Munich, and MrsT decided she wanted one, so she went over to a display and picked one out.

Mine...made in Germany. Hers...made in China. Hers was cheaper, which should have been the dead giveaway, but she didn't think about it at the time.
How about those "Amish" quilts sold in Apple Creek and other quaint shops? Found some "Made in China" tags on a few. Of course did not buy.

See, that kind of thing would really bug me. Don't call it an "Amish" quilt unless it was made by Amish people, by hand, like the Amish make for themselves. I think "Amish quilt," I think hand sewn, with nothing more than a foot-powered sewing machine, a needle, and some thread (Amish don't have electricity in their communities -- by choice).

Yeah, I know. Apple Creek is 45 minutes from my house. On the drive there it's common to see horses and buggies on roads, houses with no power lines and clotheslines with black pants (no zippers or buttons) and plain dresses hangjng, or plows being pulled by oxen or Belgian draft horses in the fields.

Now their cheese and pies are made from scratch. I rarely go to the shops in town, I like the small open air markets. No chance of any Chinese goods sold there.

I'm more interested in the quality of the non food item not the provenance. Since I married Mrs B I suppose I started to notice the "white goods. Since then every kitchen and laundry room appliance is Bosch. I don't care where they are made, their quality control manufacturing regime is the same in each factory.

Yesterday walking down for the bus we noticed a small truck loaded with olives pulling into a yard with a small unit. It is one of many small local olive oil presses dotted around here. They provide this service for people who grow a small number of trees in their gardens. We will visit today and see what the score is. We normally get our supply of oil from relative on Hvar Island but with Covid and the lack of a car thats not on. Some of the family oil is sold mainly too Italians. These people are neighbors of theirs and export High antioxidant olive oil from Hvar Gourmet Family Made

The sun is shining this morning, it lifts the spirit!
No special plans today, working from home and managing a couple of zoom calls, going to Supermarket and experimenting a new recipe
We have almost exactly the same day planned! I'm not experimenting with creating a new recipe, though I am making a loaf of bread from a new recipe. Searching for that elusive 100% whole wheat loaf that's as soft and bland as white bread.

I also have to decide between a croissant and a ham and cheese turnover for breakfast in an hour or so. :( I want both!
These are trying times. Don't denying yourself small pleasures. Eat both! :)

I need to decide between ciabatta and focaccia for paninis tomorrow and get that started so the dough can have a long slow rise.

Craig voted for focaccia, so i made the biga shortly after I posted this morning. It sat in the refrigerator for several hours, then about 20 minutes on counter before I made the focaccia dough, which is now in the refrigerator for an overnight rise.

I ended up having both for brekke.

I also would have voted for focaccia, and I'm already on record as suggesting both! :okay:

I Was a Bosch agent for years, their dishwashers are the best. And quiet as.
