I spoke to my mom yesterday. Sheās 83, just moved to a downsized retirement condo, and sheās just getting used to my dad moving into assisted living.
Out of the blue, sheās decided that she wants a bunch of bakeware - cake pans, cookie sheets, casserole dishes, etc. She hasnāt baked much of anything in a decade, and even in her prime, baking wasnāt really her thing, outside of making fruit pies.
Because of that, when they moved, she didnāt really bring anything like that with her, and now she wants it all. Iām fairly certain she just wants it to have it, and will never use it.
Mom is a pack rat/low-level hoarder, and her last house, after 50 years, was full of stuff she never used. She summed it up this way: āEveryone else called it cluttered, but it was my home!ā - so Iām off to buy her some basic bakeware. She was tickled pink when I told her that.
