Phone repair rescheduled to Tuesday. They didnā€™t show up at the appointed time, then I got a phone call that was a hangup, so I called back, it was them ringing to cancel, but I couldnā€™t get through, then they sent me a text and had me call another number, which was so busy, I scheduled a call back, then they called me back to pick a time for the call back (huh?), then while I was doing that, another person from the same place called me, so I got everything scheduled, then she tried to hard-sell me extra insurance.

Whew!

Saturday is a short day at the shop. I have a lot of snow to clear this afternoon..I dug out just enough to get the Ford out and get to work yesterday morning..Now, GF wants to renovate the guest bathroom, so I will try and avoid going into the city to look at ceramic tile and shower doors..hopefully put it off until tomorrow, which is a full day off..I'd like to have a couple of beerz and putter..I'll suggest one of her favourite dinners to convince her to stay home..

I was on the hook to work for what was supposed to be about 90 minutes, but itā€™s just gone very, very sideways, so now Iā€™ll be on at least until 1PM, probably later, and Iā€™ve been online working since 5:30AM.

There goes my Saturday. šŸš½

A freshly cut, Angus, AAA rib eye.

Shop. But, when we cut into a nice one on a Saturday morning we both look at each other and think maybe we should have steak for supper
Good stuff. I love AAA ribs eyes and been one of my favorites, second to porterhouse but I've just as much fondness for hanger steaks over the last year, so much flavor, it just a lot of prep, but worth it, and it's so much cheaper than rib eye.

I spoke to my mom yesterday. Sheā€™s 83, just moved to a downsized retirement condo, and sheā€™s just getting used to my dad moving into assisted living.

Out of the blue, sheā€™s decided that she wants a bunch of bakeware - cake pans, cookie sheets, casserole dishes, etc. She hasnā€™t baked much of anything in a decade, and even in her prime, baking wasnā€™t really her thing, outside of making fruit pies.

Because of that, when they moved, she didnā€™t really bring anything like that with her, and now she wants it all. Iā€™m fairly certain she just wants it to have it, and will never use it.

Mom is a pack rat/low-level hoarder, and her last house, after 50 years, was full of stuff she never used. She summed it up this way: ā€œEveryone else called it cluttered, but it was my home!ā€ - so Iā€™m off to buy her some basic bakeware. She was tickled pink when I told her that.

ā€¦and thatā€™s the end of that - at the last second, I called my brother (her main caretaker) and my sister (her main food bringer) and they both assured me that Mom has all that stuff, and more.

My mom went through that when they moved from the big house to the small apartment. She took too many things for the kitchen, especially since they eat their big meal at noon in the facility's dining room.

Over time, she's had us remove things, because the kitchen was too crowded.
