My brother gave me the backstory - she’s a bit miffed that 50 years of her stuff went to strangers in a yard sale and charity donation. Her preference would have been to keep it all (impossible) or to give it all to us (and we didn’t want or need it).My mom went through that when they moved from the big house to the small apartment. She took too many things for the kitchen, especially since they eat their big meal at noon in the facility's dining room.
Over time, she's had us remove things, because the kitchen was too crowded.

She’s also getting forgetful - that’s why she was telling me she didn’t have anything. She was complaining about not being able to keep her cookbooks, and my sister walked right over to the kitchen table where she had a huge pile of them. Her response: “Those aren’t the ones I want.”
