My mom went through that when they moved from the big house to the small apartment. She took too many things for the kitchen, especially since they eat their big meal at noon in the facility's dining room.

Over time, she's had us remove things, because the kitchen was too crowded.

My brother gave me the backstory - she’s a bit miffed that 50 years of her stuff went to strangers in a yard sale and charity donation. Her preference would have been to keep it all (impossible) or to give it all to us (and we didn’t want or need it).

She’s also getting forgetful - that’s why she was telling me she didn’t have anything. She was complaining about not being able to keep her cookbooks, and my sister walked right over to the kitchen table where she had a huge pile of them. Her response: “Those aren’t the ones I want.”

Been off for an extra day. Rare holiday Monday. Kitchen needs a deep clean. Purged the pantry. Two garbage bags of old open bags of pasta, expired seasonings, old condiments, etc….need one of these and some Jon Spencer Blues Explosion to keep up the momentum

I'm waiting on the Appliance Repair guy to arrive and fix my micro-exhaust fan combo over my range.
I turned it on last week and it made the most horrific 'clunk' 🤬
We're expecting 2 inches of snow tomorrow and I really need to get a few things before that.
My repair guy just left.
He took everything apart and could find nothing wrong!
But the thing back together, plugged it in and it works like a charm.
He said that if this does happen again, just new a whole new micro-combo.
He looked up the part needed and it would cost more.
It cost us $72USD for that, damn it!

Everything is closed. I can’t get into that type of work during the week. Home too late. So, cue the music and pour!

Today was a holiday here for banks and government agencies -- President's Day. Pretty much everyone else was open for business.

My Dyson vacuum cleaner doesn't suck anything up anymore. I need to take it into Dallas to have it looked at. I can't figure out how to work on it myself. If it is going to cost too much to repair, I'm going to take it home and put it out of it's misery. Mr. Dyson lives in the UK, so I can't put his vacuum where I want to put it.

Today is MrsT’s day to zoom with her friend (whom she’s going to visit next week), so I went to a distant Kroger, just for something to do.

Now I’m stood in a Verizon store to get my screen protector replaced, and then I’ll slowly wend my way home and make some meatloaf.

Work, then home to fire ip the snow blower and clean the snow from the driveway and a back yard area for the dog. Then, upstairs to continue demo on the guest bathroom. Plumber friend is dropping by tomorrow morning to diconnect everything so we can haul out the tub and vanity. GF is craving pizza so I pulled a frozen dough ball out this morning. May add a few wings to that seeing as we’ll be eating with our hands.
Then, if there is still some gas left in the tank and I haven’t had too many beer I may go up to my cave and spend an hour or so on the drum kit. We’ve got gigs booked now that they are lifting restrictions and mandates. I am rusty

Life is good!
. Have a great Saturday all!

I spoke to my mom yesterday. She’s 83, just moved to a downsized retirement condo, and she’s just getting used to my dad moving into assisted living.

Out of the blue, she’s decided that she wants a bunch of bakeware - cake pans, cookie sheets, casserole dishes, etc. She hasn’t baked much of anything in a decade, and even in her prime, baking wasn’t really her thing, outside of making fruit pies.

Because of that, when they moved, she didn’t really bring anything like that with her, and now she wants it all. I’m fairly certain she just wants it to have it, and will never use it.

Mom is a pack rat/low-level hoarder, and her last house, after 50 years, was full of stuff she never used. She summed it up this way: “Everyone else called it cluttered, but it was my home!” - so I’m off to buy her some basic bakeware. She was tickled pink when I told her that.
We watch the program hoarders..my fave word now is "clutter"

Sunday family dinner. I'm shouting for us all at my fave Indian restaurant. Later tonight.
Sons kids well 2 of them have colds? Covid. They are still coming. Daughter the school teacher has no sick days left and cant afford to get sick wants to isolate at restaurant.
Happy medium is cancel restaurant and takeaway here instead.
Most of schools here have covid. Including sons.
Covid is really p@#$$%$ me off
