Starting my day at what seems to be the last indoor shopping mall that isn’t just open, but thriving.

I’m belt shopping. I don’t know when it happened, but at some point, people decided they didn’t want to pay the price for a leather belt and now, all I can find are vinyl belts, even at places like Macy’s.

Luckily, there’s an LLBean shop here, and I had to pay a small fortune, but I got two leather belts.

Having a cup of coffee now, then off to get my hairs cut.

Got my belts, got to walk through some Christmas stuff, and now, Starbucks doesn’t have small cups, so I got the next size up for the price of the small one*.

Everything’s comin’ up Tasty! 🤩

*no, I do not know Starbucks’ cup sizes, because I might visit one twice a year a most. Scooti? Benudi? 🤷‍♂️

My local mall seems to be doing great. They even added a Hyatt Regency hotel to it around this time last year. The rediculous heat this summer helped. A lot of people here went to the mall just to get out of the house and not bake. They went to the nice, air conditioned mall. There is also a movie theater, with 8 (?) theaters, and a new place called Kidzania that took more than a year to build. KidZania Dallas

Dropped half my knives off at Sur La Table for their once-yearly sharpening, had lunch, now going to do some specialty shopping:

Here in the UK, the best bet for belts (leather) are charity shops - lots of bargains to be found.

In Texas, the Western Wear Stores have good leather belts, but they are not cheap.

My last daily-wear belt was a Carhartt all-leather one, bought at Tractor Supply Company. Good, plain, no-nonsense belt. Lasted me years.

Belts at TSC now? No all-leather ones - either all vinyl or a mix of leather and vinyl. :scratchhead:

Speaking of Carhartt, which is a clothing maker specializing in workwear, like overalls/coveralls for farm workers, construction workers, etc, I was surprised to see a lot of Carhartt gear in Paris.

Not only that, I’d gone to the big fancy-schmancy shopping mall on the Champs-Elysees (which was an experience in itself), and was interested to see displays of Gucci, Louis Vuitton, and…yes, Carhartt, displayed side-by-side.

Apparently, dressing like a road repair crew is a happening look. 🤷‍♂️

Carhartt that I've seen is farmwear and hunting clothing. And, it is "fashionable" now. People who have never been on a farm or gone hunting are wearing it, in their $80,000 pickup trucks and Range Rovers.

I do have a pair of Carhartt gloves that I bought at a farm supply store when I realized I left my winter gloves at home on a camping trip. They are mediocre as far as warmth and durability. I don't remember what I paid for them, but they weren't cheap.

TR reminded me that I needed a new belt to wear with my boots. I went to the local Boot Barn, and all the belts were leather. I got a Tony Lama leather belt, made in USA for 60 bucks, including sales tax. I already have a Texas Sesquicentennial belt buckle to use with it.

I got a lot done yesterday, so today, I just need to do laundry and gather stuff to pack for a week in Houston.

I put some of the ingredients for my fondue in the freezer. I'm going to wait until I get back for that. I plan to fry up some buffalo wings -- or maybe smoke the wings, instead. The weather here is really nice today.
