Plans for today (2023)

Today we go to see my dad, pick up his laundry, then go to my mom's to drop off groceries, and put up her Christmas decorations on her apartment door and patio railing.

I bought them each a nice poinsettia.

Im out today against my better judgment and…not busy at all! No crowds

I just came from the international market and I didn’t even have to wait on a register to check out. Black Friday/weekend stuff must be mainly online these days.

Off to the Hickory Farms pop-up store next.

The Kroger near my sister's house wasn't crowded at all on Black Friday. Traffic on the roads was not bad, either. I didn't go to Walmart or Best Buy, or any other place that sells Black Friday merch.

I'm about to cook brunch for family.
Full english except blood sausage. ( I'm only eater)
Eggs 3 choices.
Free afternoon to gamble on horses. Collected $440 yesterday.

I’d guess blood sausage is black pudding?
The French version ‘Boudin Noir’ might appeal to them more, it’s not so bloody and a bit more flavoured.
Or white pudding which is somehow both the same category and not one bit the same thing 😂
My lot love both.

I’ve got to get some Christmas lights up today. This is the latest I’ve ever left it.

We need to take my dad's clean laundry to him, but can't stay, as he tested positive for Covid this morning. More on that in the caregiver's thread.

We are bringing turkey and patty shells ( Recipe - Chicken and Puff Pastry Shells ) over to mom's place, and were going to eat with her. But, since I spent a lot of time yesterday close to my dad, holding his hand, I should not have lunch with mom. BYW, I'll be wearing a mask to fly back to Dallas tomorrow. 😠

Well, he started with tripe and parsley sauce…
I doubt there are many inhabitants of India who eat tripe (although there have to be some, somewhere,) and "parsley" is an unknown herb in Indian cooking.
However, just to make rascal drool, I'll walk you through the menu.
Starters were Vadas (think mini falafel, with Indian spices) and Kachori (little fried pastries stuffed with spices) and a tamarind chutney.
Main protein was Chicken Rizzala (think "green" Korma) with onion/cashew base, coriander and mint leaf and subtle spicing.
Basmati with some toasted almonds, raisins and a bit of turmeric for colour.
Mung Dal was tiny green beans cooked with onion, garlic, ginger, cumin, turmeric and lots of chiles.
Aviyal was 5 different vegetables sauteed with fresh coconut. mustard seeds, turmeric, chile powder and fresh chiles. served with (homemade) mango chutney and Green Mango Pickle.
Dessert was Gulab Jamun.
