Plans for today (2023)

Just paid 12 months rego

A day for spending money. Consolation is they have free coffee in a lounge.
Something to eat on the way home.
Its 1pm.here.

Hubby had just taken my 25 (?) year old 4×4 in for her yearly check to get the rego and other bits that go with it. She passed first time. $60 for the checks, $1,000 for all of the other mandatory crap needed to keep her on the road. You have to love old reliable vehicles.

Let’s see…I got down half the outdoor lights, and I got fresh gas for the mower and have it hooked up to the trickle charger, we’ll see how it goes tomorrow.

I panicked because when I opened the hatch on my car, the gas can had upended, and I could definitely smell gas and see it on the side of the can. I spilled gas in a car once before and didn’t want to go through that again.

Lucked out, only a very small amount spilled, and it was soaked up by a couple of the 67 reusable shopping bags I have back there. I cleaned all that out and everything is smelling fresh.

Bonus, SatNavSaysStraightOn - I found my reusable produce bags. :okay:

A whole weekend of outside work planned, which I hate, of course, being an inside cat.

I’ve got weeds to pull, some new landscaping to put down, the very last of the Christmas lights to get down, patio/porch furniture to put out, windows to wash, screens to put in, and if I’m really ambitious, lawn mower oil change and tune-up.

1) Remove weeds from kitchen garden. 2) Trim Raffia palms 3) Remove invasive grass from lawn 4) Take mobile phone to be fixed 5) Take laptop to be fixed 6) Trim ivy from front wall 6) buy more food.
Done 1,2 and 3, but the car isn't back from the garage yet, so can't do anything else!

I’ve got the lights down, all of them (really!), unplugged a gutter, got all the weeds pulled in the front, porch swept, furniture out ready to be washed (hoping to have a beer out there this evening), and mulch in place, ready to distribute.

I’m in town looking for a few things, been about 50% successful. Can’t seem to find a metal outdoor watering can anywhere (I hate plastic!), nor the Windex outdoor window cleaning pads I like to use, so making another stop after lunch.

Well surprisingly, I managed every thing except (5) yesterday, and only because the car didn't arrive home until 5pm. The lad who helps me with the garden managed to mow the lawn up top (scrounged some petrol from the next door neighbour) and finish almost all of the ivy trimming. The only reason we didn't finish was that we ran out of black rubbish bags...
So today's plan is to:
1) Remove dead bromelias from the front garden
2) Give the dog a bone
3)Smoke a wonderful Hoyo de Monterrey stogie and drink a beer or two (NOT Bud lite) whilst enjoying the tropical, 27° C sunshine, watching the macaws squabbling over their food and hoping for a hummingbird or two.

I ended up getting this one from Tractor Supply in town:

2.3 gallons.

Today is for finishing what I started yesterday - put down some additional mulch and get the mower tuned up.

No mower tune-up. No one in town has an oil filter for it. Last year, no one in town had an air filter for it.

I had to replace the battery pack on my 13 year old cordless electric Toro this year. The battery cost me about 75-percent of what I paid for the mower.

I was eyeballing the rechargeable ZTR mower at Lowe’s …$5500, so it was back to the oil filter aisle for me.
