Plans for today (2023)

Heat pump guy just called to inspect upstairs area for a quote.
I'm pulling the trigger on a new one.
$2600 seems to be the figure ??

Russ

That's less than half of what I paid to replace my upstairs AC system a few years ago (with AUS to US dollar conversion).

Heat pumps are not a practical option in North Texas.

Had planned to go to the supermarket, buy loads of food, buy a couple of stogies for tomorrow, pick up something for the wife, and a few other bits and pieces.
Started the car, backed it out of the drive, and it stopped. Wouldn't start again.
So ended up walking to the grocery store and buying minimum necessary. Sod it!! I hate cars, I really do, We've just spent a whole LOAD of money getting the motor done, several other items replaced, etc.

I hope one of the "minimum necessary" things was a good stogie. I'm sure you can get the good cigars we can't get here -- another reason I'm not a Republican.

Unfortunately, not:thumbsdown::thumbsdown: The place I go to imports "artesan" Cubans. Some are a bit rough, but for $3-4 a shot, who cares? Last one I tried was at $6 and was just great.
I've also got a great supplier for Nicaraguan/Honduran, and they're really great.

Taking flowers to our past parents. Arvo betting on horses. I just cooked bacon and eggs scrambled for wife. With hot choc
Me, cup of tea and cheese on toast with bacon onion and tomato.

Ok brekky was 4 hrs ago. My wife is milking this mother's day lark?
She just said in a quiet commanding voice, mother's day includes lunch eh?
I said, you're milking this. After feeling guilty for 1 minute I crawled away and made her a filled croissant. Ham and cheese squirty mustard and butter and relish.
Zapped for 25 sec.
She enjoyed it very much, and we're going for a curry with the kids in 5 hrs.

I feel like it's Christmas because today we're going to Restaurant Zheng – Fine dining restaurant Den Haag today. I've only once in my life had the pleasure to eat true Chinese food, and never at this high level. I am so exited !

Zheng means 'Emperor/His majesty' in Chinese, and the menu is based on the royal banquets of the Chinese emperors during the Ming dynasty (if I remember correctly, else I'll surely hear it again when we're there). Very exited, food history is also a passion of mine so this is going to be very interesting.
