Plans for today (2023)

No tumble dryer here. I wash stuff probably once a fortnight(ish) and it all gets hung up on a large clothes airer thing. The creases mainly fall out as it dries and then it gets folded. No ironing required.

If washing sits in washer for more than 10 mins.not taking it out, my wife says it stinks. And starts the cycle again.
I do most of washing clothes and towels on a monday. Its Monday here atm.

When I was married, I could only do the laundry if my wife was NOT home. If she was at home, she would tell me that I wasn't doing it right. If she didn't see me do it, she was perfectly fine with the end results.

Its ok if I'm left to my devices. She strips our bed every weekend. Everything is washed. She won't let me do sheets because "its complicated. You cant do those with elastic in them."

My plans for tomorrow start to make the UK trip feel more real.

I have to go to the post office to collect our travel money. We investigated 5 options in total and the one that worked out the best in terms of fewer AUS$ giving more ££££ was to use the Australian Post office to get UK cash from and then pay that into our UK joint account when we get to the UK.
Other options included transferring money electronically from one bank to another.
Taking AUS$$$ and paying them into our UK bank before/after exchanging them to GBP and just using our Australian visa card and accepting the charges (bottom of the list of our 5 options).

Then I'll (hopefully) be going to see my neighbour in palliative care.

And I've got to track down a parcel that's gone missing

And I'm having much out with my husband. I've booked a slot in his work calendar for lunch because I'll be in the city seeing our neighbour.

In amongst all of that I will probably need to fill up my vehicle which is always a challenge. It's dual fuel and whoever squeezed 2 filler caps into that small space should have been taken out and shot. The gas cap obstructs the petrol cap really badly and it can take 5 minutes to get the cap off and another 5 or even 10 sometimes to fight to get it back on. It has to be put on exactly millimetre correctly at a certain angle to fit and it doesn't work most of the time...... I'll be glad when we bite the bullet and remove the LPG tank and filler.

I suspect tomorrow is going to be a difficult day.

Federal/bank holiday here, and no plans at all. We’d had a little day trip worked out, but after full Saturday and Sunday plans, we want to rest up a bit.

Today being a Wednesday I'm taking lunch to our only granddaughter at 12.30
This morning she requested a mince pie carrot cake and fanta.
Her friend is not at school today, so that's a saving.
Pick up rum n gin. Pay telecom then start dinner when I get home. Wednesday pub is canceled due to mate is crook.
Get cash out for few wee Bill's.

The countdown has begun. Tomorrow is the last day at home before we start our journey. So I'll be busy packing, watering, cleaning, sorting out chooks, hovering the house, trying to find keys for doors and labelling them for our neighbour, plus seeing if I can actually lock the house up! Don't actually know that all the door locks work.

Then I'll be doing a little internet search on how you use passports when you've dial nationality... can I leave a country on one passport and every the next on the other, or do I leave Australia on my UK passport because the UK is my final destination... and so on. I've no idea having not travelled before with dual nationality.

I'm also going to have to go into "town" to collect the UK money that didn't arrive for the Tuesday pick up. It didn't arrive today either. I'm not really hopeful about tomorrow, but it has been promised... I'm not holding my breath.

And then I might get a far as remembering that I've not packed yet or made a list... but clothes are at least washed, medication has been collected.

And I need to download some Netflix crap onto one of the tablets so we can watch Netflix together... and get my knitting sorted and packed and... yeah pretty much everything.

I think I have actually planted all of the plants that needed to get into the ground, on the bright side.

And I need to cut the grass in the chook enclosure so that it will only be 3 weeks long not 5 weeks long by the time we get back because the girls don't like long grass especially if it's wet.

As you can tell, I'm well prepared and ready for flying around the world in the next few days. Lol
