The timers on the boilers in the two houses we had were spinning little plastic wheels, and I don’t think I ever quite figured it out.
That first night, I didn’t know which way to turn the radiators to turn them on, as they weren’t marked, and it was the first time I’d ever encountered radiator heating, so I didn’t really know what to expect. Crank it one way…cold. Crank it the other way…still cold. I guess it’s meant to be cold.
The first night in a rented room (first night in the UK), I already was hep to the plug switches, but I didn’t expect it to apply to something like a fridge, so I bought perishable stuff to hold me over the next few days…and lost all that.
Joys of traveling…and we’re in Detroit now. Flight up was so short, no beverage service!
