Plans for today (2024)

I lived in a house in Santa Cruz CA that had a heater that didn't work and no cooling had ever been installed. Kind of cool living in a space where more power wasn't needed to be comfortable.

Flip side I've seen it muggy enough here peeps cig's go out it's so humid and gets cold enough the doors freeze shut and just the other day the tractor wouldn't keep running. Had to wait till the afternoon and really crank up the throttle...
I do sometimes resort to baking something as a means of warming the house a little. The oven is really good from that point of view!

We don't have a central heater now, though do have 2 smallish portable space heaters. A lot of older homes here only have A/C or room air-conditioning depending on just how old they are.

The big house we downsized from had something called heat strips combined with the A/C.

All I can say is that it is a good thing it never gets very cold for very long here.

Heat strips... That's like the 5 kilowatt toaster in your attic.
Yep. One time when it got really cold for a week or so, like lows around freezing and highs in low 40s, house was freezing to us even with heat turned on quite high. 2 story house built on a concrete slab, with ceramic tile floors on first level. Took a week before the tiles weren't freezing.

Plans for today was a flop.
I had a recipe that I wanted to make for this newest challenge - it was meh, okay I suppose, but I had to make so many modifications to the written recipe it's just not worth it to be honest.

Facilities Engineer for a min... I get it; concrete weighs right about 143lb./ft^3 and you're trying to heat/or cool it with an AIR conditioner... Most don't get how costly/ineffective/stupid that misuse of equipment is. They don't get me not opening the curtains until the sun is up in the winter...

🤠

Took a little time, but we finally made it. Biggest holdup was getting the rental car. It’s a long story, but the gist of it is, the third-party cleaning company responsible for turning the cars around is in the middle of contract negotiations, so they’re dragging their feet on getting cars cleaned and ready for the next customer.

We’d rented a compact, they offered us a minivan…a full-sized 4-door pickup truck…even a Cadillac SUV of some sort, all at no extra charge, but we opted to wait for something a bit smaller and ended up with a Nissan Sentra, which is still an upgrade from what we had originally booked.

From there, a two-hour drive up to the hotel. Breakfast plans have just been decided. That’s about all we know about our plans tomorrow.

Right so today was watering the garden early morning as we are going through another hot spell
Then I want to get my gate repaired. That means, I do the design etc but my staff does the welding.
I need to do some computer work and want to keg a beer that I brewed.
And maybe brew another
Plus I'll need to do some cooking obviously and and and

My plans for the day have gone out the window because yesterday my brother stressed me out to the extent the little relaxing glass of whiskey I was having turned into three large ones and now I have a banging headache 🙄

But now I want hot n sour soup all the more!

So I'm going to wander to the Corovan supermarket that's run by some asian folk and see what goodies I can get from there.

Might save the original hot n sour plans and wait for the lily bulbs and instead go for a Kha Gai instead because I know I can get at least tinned coconut milk 👍

One things for sure I need soup!!
Soup would be super right now 😆
