Not gone quite to plan.
I have nice lunch planned on sunday and wanted to get a little bit ahead but I’ve just had one of those days where the cooking gods are not smiling on me.
It took over an hour to make black bean houmous.
It’s not hard, put the ingredients in the blender and whizz. But no I just could not get the flavour or texture right. I finally got there (so I thought) and decanted into it’s containers and then remembered I didn’t check the flavour with the tortilla’s (chips), fed up by now I nearly didn‘t bother but after all the fussing I decided I’d better.
It was not good. It was really bland. The tortilla‘s are already bland apart from salt and this houmous was not helping the situation, it was a joyless dip!
So I grudgingly scrape it all back into the processor bowl (for a second time) and wash the containers cos the lid’s won’t seal well covered in gunk. Several more adjustments and more spice and seasoning than you would have thought it possible for some beans and tahini to absorb and it finally arrived in a good place.
The kitchen side and sink is plastered in bits of dip and I’ve lost the will the live!
I wasted the afternoon in a houmous fight
These beans should be called black hole beans!
