Plans for today (2025)

One of the regional grocery stores here has chicken thighs on sale for .79 cents a pound, which is a really great price. Going out to pick up that and a few other things, then swinging by Walmart to get that picture frame I ordered online (curbside pickup).

Today's a public holiday. I've just finished breaking up garlic into cloves for freezing. Wifes planting out radishes lettuces and spring onions I propagated . Picked 5 capsicums and chillies.
And a solitary cucumber from our greenhouse. That will go in my rhaita Saturday.
In fact she just walked in with about a dozen fresh tomatoes. We may have on toast for lunch???
This afternoon we are going out in new car.

My plans are to warm back up by the end of the day 😂
I went to the yard to pick up one of bikes ready for its winter coat and it wouldn’t start. Got it going eventually but I could feel it wasn’t fuelling properly, probably not happy at standing idle for such a long time so I thought best take it for a spin get everything flowing again.
It was so, so cold I think it might take the rest of the day to recover 🥶

Have put in a food order for delivery tomoz with only one thing on the menu that requires input, the rest of it is in and out of the oven stuff to ensure my energies are directed at clearing the dining room.

Tbh I feel all at sea at the idea of not cooking for a week (or likely more than a week), I didn’t realise just how much I need to do it!

When you store the bikes do you use a product like Stabil in the gas tank, drain the carburetor, and a bit of oil squirted in the cylinder and then a few cranks to spread the oil around???

(Usually a recommended practice for gasoline engines.)

Yes. Briggs and Stratton fuel stabiliser which gives the longest stabilisation time.
But the bike thats stored down the yard is Mr SSOAP’s and I have a suspicion it hasn’t been done.

We were supposed to go drive some cars today, but in the immortal words of The Four Seasons, “Oh what a night…” but not in a good way.

Went to bed at 10:30PM…called at 11PM, up until 11:45PM…called at 1AM, up until 1:45AM…called at 2:30AM, up until 7AM, then back up at 10AM, and I’ve got fallout from that to deal with in a few minutes…and scheduled maintenance work tonight starting at 7PM…plus whatever other misery on-call brings tonight.

May try to trot out for a couple of hours to visit a new big Kroger that’s opened in my area - still far enough away that I won’t be a regular visitor there but, hey…new big Kroger!

When FE at an fitness establishment the pools chemicals were checked every 4 hours, health code regulation. At 2 AM *every* day the -new hire- lg, life guard, would call telling me the chems were off. There was an inherent delay between the sensors and the outcome. It would be fine long before any health official showed up. I had an app, no longer exists, where I could insert SMS messages into a conversation, no more going to work at 2:20 AM... 🤭

I'm gonna bake something (just fed my sourdough starter) and will start making snacks for Superbowl tomorrow. And light duty housework. DH has had stomach flu (he thinks) for almost a week and his appetite has been off. He's just starting to feel somewhat better but isn't on board with anything spicy for tomorrow, which is a bit disappointing.

I can't figure out how he got stomach "flu" and I didn't. I pointed that out to him and he refuses to believe that I'm not immune to stomach bugs. I personally suspect he might have something els going on but he gets mad at me when I suggest that. He has a doctors appointment at the end of this month, full workup so hopefully all is normal. If he's not better in a few days I'm going to suggest he try to get in earlier or at least schedule a teledoc online visit.

Plans for today included cleaning the corner of the garden behind the "summer house "( it's not strictly a summer house, because we don't get summer and winter here).
Removed two large black bagfuls of dead leaves, dead plants and weeds and finally, the place is looking a bit more presentable. I've got 6 passion fruit plants which need planting there, plus I'm going to move the cymbidium orchids to the side, and I've got tomato plants and dozens of chiles (Thai, local chirel, chiltepin, scotch bonnet) which are getting too big for their pots.
Tomorrow is another day.
