The CookingBites Recipe Challenge: Nov 2015-June 2017

And yes - I'm just catching up with all these posts now! I am in Japan but since it's the silly season with Christmas break ups and all that I've been so busy! Plus it's almost my little ones first birthday so all my friends with babies around her age have been having kids parties too...seriously I just had two different first birthday parties to attend this weekend! It's been insane! Sorry guys! I'm usually online every day but phew! It's been a whirlwind!!

OK - Well you turned up just in the nick of time. I had set a deadline of midday today UK time, and you have made it... So ham it is.
What is your deadline for entries please? We usually set a 10 day ish deadline but that is Christmas Day that you would be doing the judging and making a decision on. You can make it a touch longer or shorter if you want, but we will need you around to be judge and jury during that time as well.

Oh - and congrats to your little one. Her birthday is just far enough away from Christmas not to get too tangled up in the chaos. I have a brother with one last weekend as well, plus mine is Christmas week which I hate so about 20 years ago I introduced a half birthday where my OH and I just have a quiet celebration instead of over Christmas week. When my brother found out at the weekend (we were down visiting him and a few others, he asked me why he had never heard of it, how he got one :)o_o:) and what he had to do to get one! My response was a steady girlfriend!

Maybe a shorter deadline would be better, then? Otherwise it's getting mixed up in that Christmas/New Years period. How about we say the 23rd? Does that work? :)

The entire month of December is just a handful...if I had my choice she would have been born in January but she decided to come a little early, which threw a spanner in the works!

And I'm sorry in a way for choosing ham since you're vegan, right? After I went back and read the entire thread I'm kind of disappointed that I didn't choose a Japanese ingredient!

Got a ham smoothie!!
I am here trying to catch up and then a ham smoothie jumps out. Something like when Cupcakechef reemerge although I rather understand here reemergence. As for this ham smoothie all I can do is shake my head:headshake::headshake:. So what's the last word...are we sticking with ham? I get so confuse sometimes. I actually thought it had to be a vegetable.

I think we are sticking to ham. But I'd like clarification about whether Parma ham and similar products is included. It sounded as if @cupcakechef was intending the sort of ham we put in sandwiches or that we cook as a joint at Christmas.

A ham smoothie would be like a cold ham soup, I'd think! But there are so many pretty obvious (cooked) ham recipes: Pea and ham soup, ham and cheese quiche, ham in sandwiches (toasted or otherwise), ham on pizza or in pasta or in salad. We could google and post such recipes indefinitely. I'm trying to think of something less obvious. Granted, ham smoothie is less obvious! :D

Its not a cold ham soup, that much I can say from experience.
