the astonishing denial of what is scientifically obvious
Bit like the sun revolving around the earth then or the fact that the air will be sucked out of peoples lungs if they exceed 60 mph or that if you head too far east / west you will fall off the end of the earth. Cry over the snapshot in time type data if you wish but there have been many huge climate swings in the loooong past and there will be again whatever we do. India China and many other fast developing nations have zero interest in climate control - why not have a go at them or is it that their emissions aren't as bad somehow because they don’t have Trump [a handy scapegoat] as their leader ? Further America has many laws regarding emissions and whatever is said or done they will be bound by them.
The eruption of one of the super volcanoes [due] will pump a hundred times more greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere than we have managed in all of our recorded history.
Trump - was voted in by the American people [please no fantasy conspiracy theory claptrap] and those who don't like it are quite at liberty to move to a country with no free speech and no democracy - they should feel right at home - until they step out of line.
As for the end of the word scenario yes it will come but I suspect it is far more likely to be war than any climate change - there are far too many out there willing to take everybody with them to oblivion and no Trump and Putin are not in there.
Finally "in denial" perhaps but not believing scientific data gathered from a tiny sample is not exactly clever either.

Isn't there a volcano that has been erupting constantly for the last few decades?

Oh and it isn't Trump per se, some Americans have been screaming about the environment since roughly 1988, The screaming just died down a bit the last 8 years.
It goes in cycles depending on the interests and investments of certain people.

I fear you may be right on that one. But as you know, I have no time for religion.

Just had to round up a herd of stray cattle out of my garden area of the garden... couldn't actually park the SUV without getting rid of them. they seem to randomly walk through fence around here knowing how to step through the lower half and get the upper half over them. fences are usually 4 or 5 horizontal wires. we were told that there were stray cattle in the area and had seen the evidence in the chook house area when we first moved in but hadn't seen them until now. the last few days they have been eating in the lower paddocks which was fine because they were cutting the grass for us but the garden and car parking are off-limits especially when they start eating my roses!

That's a coincidence. For the first time since we moved in here (as far as I know) we had a cow and her calf in our back garden yesterday nibbling at the grass. They had likely entered through a gap in the wall which has recently appeared. They didn't stay long.

The fire rating has now gone up to severe which is level 4 out of 6. not good news.
Tomorrow morning I'll be packing a suitcase with passports and other important documents, essential medication, toiletries and clothing for the two of us. it will be the grab and go bag for the time being.

There are currently 2 fires locally. one under control when I went to bed which had only taken out 18 hectares and was only 14km away. but the big one is only 24km away and had taken out over 2,500 hectares when I went to bed and was still out of control when it went dark. fire fighting helicopters have been flying back and forth all afternoon but it wasn't until I went to collect my hubby from the airport in Canberra that I saw them. I've just checked the status of it and it's still out of control and had now burnt over 3,250 hectares of bushland. I'll have to watch it carefully tomorrow along with the wind direction. the only saving grace is that there is a township between me and it (the one I live close by to) and if it threatens that then many more fire fighters will be called in and a state wide emergency declared first. but given that is my only exit, I'll have to keep a very close eye on things.

Our plan is the double check on it in the morning before hubby leaves for work. if needed I'll take him to work and keep the car for the day, but that's 2 lots of 50km each way rather than the usual one which I know the car does not have the fuel for.

And we used to think 400 acres burnt in Surrey or Hampshire was a lot! I've just converted acres to hectares, it's only 161 hectares! this is already 20 times that size!

Hey, a few years back at least 64,000,000 acres burned in Texas but it didn't make the national news.
