I'm fine with shots, and drawing blood. Ask TVC if he's ever had a catheter "installed." It doesn't actually hurt, but it is not something any man wants to be awake for.

CD
I've got stories about catheters I will spare everyone, suffice to say part of my PTSD diagnosis has to do with that.
You're lucky if it's just uncomfortable. Ain't nobody who wants to be awake for that.

PabloLerntKochen on Portugal it's the same, catheter (cateter in portuguese) it's the word for the plastic tube that can be inserted in any vein. The one specific to drain urine is called algália. But I understood what caseydog meant,my grandfather had bladder cancer and the localized chemo was very uncomfortable

So I went to the gastro today for a minor health procedure. I went to a private clinic, partially paid by my private health insurance but my doctor, as is common here in Portugal, works in the private clinic but also in a public hospital. As she was doing the procedure I heard her talking to the nurse, saying the public hospital where she works had some equipment that makes this kind of procedure less uncomfortable. The nurse replied the private clinic didn't have that equipment, and that they never had a request for it. I felt like the subtone of the conversation was kind of "we'll never have that here". So yeah, there I was paying probably double for the procedure than what I would have paid if I had gone to a public hospital, and having more discomfort than if I was paying less. The only issue is it would probably take me months, if not years, to get this kind of appointment in a public hospital 😔

Getting a new Catheter while asleep is not cool
EDIT: Catheter in english is only used for THAT area? In german we use the same word for any plastic tube connected to your body. I got one to infuse something into my bloodstream

Into the bloodstream the needle and tube is called a cannula in English and the bag is a drip or infusion or simply an IV/IV drip (intravascular drip)

If it is agree a surgical procedure it tends to be a drain which can be a tube into the lungs (chest tube) or into a surgical site to allow things to drain.

A catheter is specifically for urine so a tube to drain the bladder.

So a catheter is what we in Portugal call an algália. Our word cateter is a tube that can go into any vein and it is commonly use to administer IV fluids.

So Truss is out (or rather, in and out) and the Conservatives are looking for a new leader. This may sound really wierd, but if I were elected "PM" tomorrow, I´d go into Parliament and say " the country evidently has no confidence in the Conservative party, or their policies, and I, as Prime Minister, am responsible for the people of Great Britain, more than the Conservative party. Therefore, I am asking for a general election". Sounds absurd, obviously, but whoever is the next PM (and bets are on the cat who lives at No.10) would at least be able to leave office without being accused of lying, cheating, dithering or screwing up the economy.

I am drooling over the new tableware some brands are releasing ahead of Christmas. I love sets of beautiful dishes, and serving plates, and porcelain and whatnot, and I would love to have a huge glass cabinet where I could have lots of stuff like that in display (well I do have one but it's small).

Sometimes I feel like going ahead and buy new dishes, serving bowls, etc, so I could have lots of beautiful tableware to host parties at my house...then I remember I don't like hosting parties, and I realize my money is best spent elsewhere

I say bring him back. Then it will all implode and we might get a general election. On the other hand... 🤷‍♀️
I consider all politicians to be on a level somewhere below cockroaches and earthworms. However, if I were a Machiavellian Conservative, I´d say:
"Right! Let´s call for an election! We´ve got the Ukraine crisis, the world recession crisis, and the backlash from Covid and the Brexit thing. Put the opposition in. They can blame us for a year or so, then they`re on their own."
Thus, you would be considered "honest" and thinking of the nation, rather than your scrappy little political party. And then, if the (current) opposition did OK, fine. If they didn´t, you can blame them for 4 totally unrelated events that a political party would have had to face, regardless of their political leaning, and which did not depend on them. No-one predicted Brexit, Covid, Ukraine or the world recession.
