I can't detect anything, a doctor might see something
I have sent a list of what´s going on now to the doctor, the assistant just called me and she thinks it´s urgent . However the doctor´s on holiday so he'll call me thursday or friday when he's back to see what he can do.

Better is, a patient should be treated until he's healthy or at least feeling better again. But don't forget to be a nice, faithful and easy patient.

My mother made the big mistake to always being angry with how the doctors treated her. The omnipresent negative thoughts of the bad outcome made her even more sick. I'm so relieved she could escape that hamsterwhee and is now focusing on the goods parts in life again. You gonna do it

Thanks  If I wasn't a nice patient the rheumatologist wouldn't be seeing me at all, because my general practitioner didn't send me to him. But my rheumatologist had told me to contact him if I ever had a problem , and because of him alone we now know I do have something rheumatic going on. Without his help this would have taken even longer as the GP initially thought nothing was wrong. And GP gatekeep health here: usually without them you get nowhere. But I did because the rheumatologist remembered me. And by now the GP has apologised to me because there's obviously something wrong indeed.

If I vent here that doesn't mean I talk to my doctor like that. In fact almost all my nurses and doctors remembered who I am, because they like me and they tell me so. Even though I am a weirdo and complicated to treat.
I think it's because I always mention it when I appreciate something they do, and they rarely get compliments these days.

But I don't feel optimistic about my health situation, I can do less and less every day. I do really need answers soon.

Ok, thumb is all taken care of:

She said if I’d had come in when it happened, it would have warranted a few stitches, but we’re past that point now. I should be able to go without the dressing starting Sunday.

Here’s a fun little side note: I started pulling it apart this morning, and it started bleeding again, so that’s when I decided to just go in and have it seen to properly.

First, called my regular doc’s office and asked if a nurse could just clean and bandage it for me.

“No. If you come in, you have to see a doctor, you can’t just see a nurse. That’s what Urgent Care is for. Go to Urgent Care.”

I did a quick check off my health benefits app on my phone and found an Urgent Care near me that takes my insurance. Drove the 12 miles.

Got out, went to the front entrance, big sign that said masks were required “NO EXCEPTIONS!!!” - ok, back to the car to get a mask, no problem, didn’t have one in my pocket.

Got inside to the Urgent Care entrance, turned the doorknob…locked, and a little sign that said the office was closed, but if you really need help, call this number, and someone will call you back and they’ll come in if they need to.

They should change their name to Not Very Urgent Care At All, I think. 🤔

Checked my app for the next closest facility, and it happened to be the employee clinic my employer runs. They provide clinics in various markets, it’s usually too far out for me to go, but I was already halfway there, so off I went.

It was an absolute delight.

Two workers - office manager and nurse practitioner. That was it. Usually, any medical office visit here entails about 20 minutes of forms (especially if you’re a new patient) and handing over picture ID and insurance card, etc.

Nope, because I’m an employee, they already had all that, even though I’d never been there before, so I didn’t have to fill anything out, and I didn’t even have to wait. I was seen to immediately.

Not only that, but they gave me all the supplies I’ll need to take care of it over the next few days - dressing, wrap, tape, antibacterial cream, etc. Usually, I have to go buy that separately.

Sweet!

PS - that took me awhile to type with one finger!

Adds extra flavour!

I did the exact same thing once and learned why we do not attempt to use the mandoline when we have been drinking beer.
I’ve cut myself with all manner of knives, scissors, parchment paper, wax paper, foil, but I’ve oddly survived with everything intact using the mandoline. 🤷‍♂️
