Similar in Gaelic as well. Quite cheap as no machine required.

I could manage upto forty at one stage, which for a "townie" in a Gaelic speaking area wasn't too bad.

Not so much a recipe, one onion, two shallots ~300g of ox cheek, ~300g braising steak. The meat was cut into small cubes (for small pies) and the lot went in the slow cooker for about 6 12 hours with salt, pepper, teaspoon Bovril & water.
